Bad company

Don't believe ANYTHING they say, read the contract & know you can get cheated. They are not a moving company, but brokers for other moving companies you don't get to choose. All the bad reviews are true, I believed them when they said they weren't, I got burned to the tune of $1900. The pieces that were my great grandmothers were treated like Wal-mart clearance. AND they won't return calls once you get skunked! See Rip-off reports! I feel they were fraudulent & they acted like extortionists in my opinion. I have the proof, so I doubt they can respond.

Scam

I contracted with Worldwide van lines for my move from Saint Louis to Oklahoma City. The first movers they contracted wanted to come and move us out at midnight! This was unacceptable for us and our neighbors, so we had to reschedule for a week later. That moving company (Aaron movers) was 3 days late, then when they re-delivered they were 2 days after the set arrival time. They also stole a family heirloom! Worldwide van quoted our move (and I told them every piece of furniture and the exact number of boxes) and they still under estimated the cost by $400!!!!! They were nice over the phone, but the companies they contract with are not and are SHADY!!!!!!!!!

what started out great ended up in a nightmare

I contracted with World Wide via Steven. I was assured that my items would meet me in Lenox by the 5th and no later than the 6th. I was subcontracted out to a night mare called USA Relocation and transfer inc. alais Bobby Motwani. Not only was this guy given an F by the BBB he has practices that are not above board. He is what the horror stories about moving is about. He sent an used Peniske truck 26 foot to pick up my items and move them. The guys showed up not knowing anything about my move and a day late on the pick up. They open their truck to my horror was items that even good will would reject. I had told them I needed in cubic feet a truck that was 7.5 by 16 feet. They assured me they would get it in. I had not wrapped my card table for a reason as it was a fragile piece and when they picked it up it broke I tried to remove the leg so they would go ahead and get it up there....where we would get it repaired. they wouldnt take it. They got the stuff in and the Driver and co driver Gary and Luis were very nice but then they called their boss Bobby and then it happen. He started to try and extort me and treaten . I jump back and called world wide van lines and told them yes I know it was over weight and told them it would be and the dispatcher on duty told me not to worry. I personally used an UPS rated scale and weighed every box and item. I was assured by Gary the stuff would be on my door step in Lenox by the 5th here it is the 6th and was told that it wouldnt be here till next week and I have to fly back to Florida as this isnt my main home. I have contacted Bobby and he wont answer his phone and evades all issues .. I contacted Darryl and he was nice but jumps around the issue. I asked them why they used such a man when the internet is full of horror stories about this man. I contacted the Federal Department of Transportation and this man wasnt listed as an intertate carrier and found out from DOT he is being investigated for his practices by the state of Florida. So say what you will this company isnt what it says it is and beware. They are a broker service not a true van line.

Moving company Brokers NOT a moving company, liars, frauds,

This company is a broker of movers NOT a moving company as they portray. I verified 4 times that I would get an 18 wheeler that would hold all of my belongings & that it would be a World Wide Van lines truck and that I had overestimated on my furniture weight. 4 times I was told yes, no problem and that the concerns I had about the negative reviews wouldn't come true, that my great grandmothers pieces were in good hands. I was told those reviews were untrue. Even after I got the contact and I talked to Chase, again, about the information, I was told, it was just standard, but that what he'd been telling me was the absolute truth. IT WAS NOT!!! We ended up with a company that may or may not be a sub of the USA Relocation that was sued for fraud out of Florida (accent the office doesn't identify the name of the company on the recording). We got 2 movers not 4. NOT an 18 wheeler but a 24' so some of my belongings got left behind since they didn't fit in the truck. They loaded my grandmother's pieces wrapped them nicely the first time. BUT the truck didn't have a D.O.T. number suddenly the truck had maintence to be done before it could leave the state of VA my things that didn't get left behind were re-loaded into a Penske truck and NOT well, scratches, dents, gouges, the gambit. They let it slip another job got completed, hmmm So the 700 miles they had to drive for my things was postponed? I moved those pieces over 1800 miles in several trips over the years and never an issue, I'm older now & thought I'd pay the extra for professionals...DO NOT HIRE ANY OF THESE PEOPLE!!!!!! It cost us nearly $2000 EXTRA we had to have the money BEFORE they would deliver our furniture!! Smacks of fraud & extortion?!

NEVER SIGN A CONTRACT BEFORE YOU SEE THE MOVERS TRUCK!

Horrible Company Never Use

Worst move, triple my estimate..shoddy, scam artist moving company. Fraudulent. Paid $4265 instead of $1865. Ruined my furniture, smashed my collectible glassware, holes in boxes, big gouges in furniture. Do not use Worldwide Van Lines or Lone Star movers. I trusted them and the really took advantages. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Never again with Dependable move/ World Wide Van lines

WorldWide Van Lines (WWVL) has contract with Bobby and Ken/ Dependable moving as a small moving companies and their customer service is worse and unreasonable at best. They yell at you and not respect anything at all. Also they try to rip off your money and give worse customer service. Please see example below. We were suppose to be moved by Bobby on 4th June, who did not show up and then finally we moved our stuff with Ken/ Dependable moving on 5th June. When drivers arrived at our home, they mentioned they will go to Indianapolis and then they will go to Pearland/Houston, TX. As per driver, they said it would not possible to deliver our stuff on 7th june, when we said we don't want to move then driver mentioned to call his Boss Ken and Kend mentioned that go ahead and sign contract, we'll deliver your stuff on Sunday, 7th June. Instead of that our stuff arrived on 10th of June and we had to post pone and cancel flight tkts of my wife/daughter/ parents from Houston. Anyway, worse experience begins now with cheating about how much our stuff weigh. I moved 4 time in last 4 year so we have some idea what we have and what we don't. We were suppose to pay 900 $ for 4500 lb wt of my move. If it is less WWVL will pay me back and if it is more then I will pay them upfront. On 10th June ~ 8:15am I was called by WWVL about extra wt (280 lbs more) of our stuff and I was asked to pay $998 (900 + 98). I was told that total wt of truck was 22780 lbs (empty wt 18000 lbs + my stuff 4780 lbs) and our stuff weighed 4780 lbs so we have to pay difference of 280 lbs excess wt, which was 98 $. Somehow we thought lets just weigh truck before unloading and after unloading our stuff and make it clear. When my wife went to weight station to weigh truck, it was only 20680 lbs (2100 lbs less then what they told me) so if empty truck wt is 18000 lbs then our stuff wt is only 2680 lbs and much less then 4500 lbs so we should not even pay 900 $ but pay less then 900 $. Now Ken changes and calls us and says empty truck wt is 14100 lbs so I have to pay for 2180 lbs (6680 lbs – 4500 lbs) $ 780 extra on $ 900. It did not make sense how Ken was calculating. Empty truck wt changed from 18000 to 14000 lbs in one day. Anyways we were threaten by Ken and drivers that unless we pay them upfront 1680 $ ($1500 in money order and $ 180 cash) they would not unload stuff. They even left our home after emptying few boxes off the truck. I tried to explain to Ken it did not work out and I wasted my time. I was helpless since I was still in Springfield, MO and my wife, 1 yr baby, my senior citizen parents were in Pearland/ Houston, TX with movers. Ken and us agreed that lets wt truck after they unload our stuff and they will pay me the difference or charge me appropriately according to wt. We called WWVL multiple times to clarify this issue but WWVL Haley/ or Haleigh comes on phone and then put us on hold without listening what we have to say. Ken also mentioned that he asked WWVL to call me or my wife. My wife also called and she was put on hold by Haley again and she never called us back. I think Haley will only realize if someone else does this to her after getting deposit and money. As WWVL never came on phone, we had no choice but pay to Ken 1680 $ ($1500 in money order and $ 180 cash) and get wt of empty truck done by our self. Even we paid for truck wt, that is not norm when we move- moving company does that. This wt was suppose to be done before loading truck at my house and after loading at my house in Springfield, MO. I was suspicious with their demand of $ 1680 since it was unusual charges for wt we did not move so initially I was hesitant but finally we gave them $ 1500- money order and 180 cash. As per Ken, driver will give us back our cash and money order if empty truck wt shows our total wt 15 mins without any communication and they just hang up. That's Haley. She did this 3 times without understanding WWVL responsibility to resolve that current issue. WWVL is the company we trust before signing a contract. It is your responsibility to protect your customers. It is like Haleigh/ Steve don't want to talk. I think this needs to be improved and no one will do business if they know what kind of service WWVL and their subcontractors provides. There needs to be honesty and dependability to movers. Anyways, while I am writing we still have to do wt of empty truck and lets see what happens.

This is unbelievable real life event.

Awful company

First they were 5 days late picking up our furniture akthough they stated they had a strict two-day window for picking up, requiring us to stay at a hotel since our waterbed had been drained and taken apart for the pickup. Then we had no idea when it would arrive from SC to NH because neither Darrel Lawson nor Haley would return our calls and the foreigners they hired to deliver our furniture and all our household goods and clothing decided to travel to several other states and make other pickups and deliveries first, the 1.5 to 2 day delivery time we were told ended up just under two weeks ! Our lost rebate from moving out of our apartment late and hotel and meals cost due to WWVL's lack of follow-through came to $ 920.00 thus far and still no movers had showed up ! Then the movers called at 6pm and wanted to deliver at midnight that evening, but we said no, it would be too dark, so they said first thing in the morning. Fine, the next day they showed up at 3pm, very hungover and demanded an extra $300 cash before unloading anything. None of our furniture was wrapped or padded as should have been according to the contract - the movers refused to assemble the bed according to the contract. They just said that our contract was with WWVL and not with them. I had to call the Police in as they were going to leave with my furniture unless they had the $500 bal. due and an extra $300 all in cash. Police found driver with suspended license and noncomercial truck. Police convinced them to unload with a compromise of $160 extra and they quickly shoved all boxes in a pile, those marked 'fragile' on the bottom and damaged our bed while throwing the pieces to the floor. And that was with Police intervention ! WWVL are just scammers that hire the cheapest jobbers they can find and never return your calls after they have your upfront money. STAY AWAY FROM THEM.

Worldwide Van Lines LLC Not A Moving Company

I should have checked before I agree to have this company move me. Looking at the other reports read like my story. Worldwide Van Lines will book your move then subcontract it. In my case to a fly-by-night company in Colorado. They didn't give any details to the company. When my move date came there was no call (they say they will call 48 hours in advance). Turns out the subcontractor driver knows nothing about the move, doesn't know he is supposed to make a pick-up, needs to go get packing material, shows up with a truck which is too small (because he already has another load on it). Meanwhile Kevin Lyle is the supervisor at Worldwide Van Lines who says he will take care of everything. He will not return phone calls, emails, faxes, etc. Also, there was a specified date after which the delivery was to occur. I had it confirmed in emails with Phindy at Worldwide, I wrote it into my contract specifically. They said they knew nothing about it and tried to charge for storage (because the date THEY picked to pack me was 4 days before delivery.

Please, please do yourself a favor. Stay far away from this company. They are only going to shuffle you off to some bozo subcontractor. Our driver said all the time it gets misrepresented and people think they are actually going to get van lines when all you get is some fly-by-night company. I have seen other complaints and the Worldwide people try to put it off to broken down trucks, underestimates of the amount to be moved by the customer etc. Trust me, these people are not on the up and up. I will make a formal complaint with the regulators but don't do what I did. This is the worst experience of my 58 years with any company doing business -- bar none.

Beware of Worldwide Van lines/ Dependable

We were suppose to pay 900 $ for 4500 lb wt of my move to

subcontractor Dependable Movers of World Wide Van Lines (WWVL). If

weight is less then WWVL will pay me back and if it is more then I will

pay them upfront. On 10th June ~ 8:15am I was called by WWVL about

they told me) so if empty truck wt is 18000 lbs then our stuff wt is

only 2680 lbs and much less then 4500 lbs so we should not even pay

900 $ but pay less then 900 $. Now Ken changes and calls us and

says empty truck wt is 14100 lbs so I have to pay for 2180 lbs (6680

lbs – 4500 lbs) $ 780 extra on $ 900. It did not make sense how Ken

gave them $ 1500- money order and 180 cash. As per Ken, driver will

give us back our cash and money order if empty truck wt shows our

total wt </= 4500 lbs. They would not take personal check since we

can always block it later on. Anyway, after unloading things driver got

sign on paper and mentioned that he will follow my wife's car for wt of

empty truck and give us a difference. As per our surprise, driver took

their truck out of our drive way and left the scene without following

my wife. My wife and cousin went to wt station to see weather they

are there or not but they did not appear for > 30 mins and nor they

pick up the phone or nor they called my wife. They run away with

extra money thinking that they will get away with it. Now we don't

know what to do.

They put you on hold for > 15 mins without any communication and

they just hang up. She did this 3 times without understanding WWVL

responsibility to resolve that current issue. WWVL is the company we

trust before signing a contract. It is your responsibility to protect your

customers.

WORST EXPERIENCE OF OUR LIVES

I used the internet to get quotes for our move from Oklhoma to Pa. Suzanne assured went over a list of our belongings and gave us a quote of $2900 approx.

We were given a window of 2 day for the pick up. 10 mins before the deadline, wwv called us to say the truck was broke down and they would send some one the next evening. They sent some one from Florida Southwest vanlines, and he quickly informed us that nothing on our contract with wwv was good anymore. He insisted we resign his contract and said he would leave if we didnt. We had a window to get to Pa. so we had no other option because of the other truck not ever getting there. I personally had to help load the truck or the workers would not have finished in 1 day. The driver did nothing but inventory and could not spell any english word. He left my house and went to the scales and quickly informed me that my new bill would be $9800 and without half of that sent to his company overnight check, he would not even start to deliver our goods. Now he had our stuff on his truck locked so we had no choice but to sign. It took 9 days to get to our house after wwv's dispatcher said 3 days. Once he got there, he hired labor force people to unload. They broke our dryer's timer and tore the 3 day old vinyl in the kitchen. The driver informed me that he would not go up the stairs with our stuff, so they put every thing except for a couple of items in the living room and the front porch and front yard and left. The screws from our dresser's mirror are still missing.

The most horrible experience we have ever had. Please never use wwv or the florida southwest van lines. If you do, remember this, I told you ahead of time.

Totally unprofessional and barely a business.

Don't be fooled by the fact that they have a website or a phone system, there's nothing behind it. I was scheduled to get a pick-up on a Friday/Saturday. They give you a 48 window to account for the unknowns in transit.

I had no problem with that, and even planned for some extra contingency. I called them on the Thursday before to find out exactly when they were going to show up. A woman gave me the name of the driver and his number. Upon calling him, he had no idea about a pick up in MA and was actually in Florida with what sounded like no knowledge or intentions of coming to Boston.

Hearing this, i did what any normal patron would do. I tried to contact their dispatch. No one picked up or returned my calls. Customer service was the same deal. I called Darryl Lawson who'd originally helped me set up the deal. He reassured me that everything was fine and they'd actually be able to pick up my things at the latest Sunday morning. Sunday comes around and no-one. I called and they'd told me the truck broke down. A very convienient accident. So they then told me Monday morning. Monday morning rolls around and the new tenants for my old place had already started moving in. They then told me they could get someone there between 4-7 pm that night and they had someone already in CT. Nope because just hours later they said that driver ran into trouble too and wouldn't be able to make it until late Tuesday evening. My old landlord had to get my belongings moved on short notice because of the new tenants. Guess who gets to eat the bill. At that point, i'd had enough and was fortunate to find an alternative through a family friend on such short notice.

I can understand uncontrollable circumstances that govern the 48 hour pick-up range, but this who thing has been ridiculous. I'm not sure that i've ever really been compelled to file complaints, but this definitely made me feel that i needed to make others aware. The entire time, i had to constantly make the effort in contacting these people, with the exception of one time that they called me. Even then, a majority of the time you can't get anyone on the phone through their main number, direct numbers, or leaving voicemails. I'm very well aware of how businesses operate and many circumstances that can make their jobs more difficult, but this was just a lack of professionalism, coordination, and being honest with the customer. The only thing they did right was apologize profusely any time i got them on the line, but even then it just felt like they were trying to stall me through lies. This is a very defenseless situation for many people when they have only a week off of work to get all of this done and no last minute options.

The one smart thing i did was paid my deposit by credit card, so i'm able to dispute that charge. Switching to another moving company may have been a bit more expensive, but it was well worth my piece of mind. Do yourself a favor and avoid doing business with Worldwide Van Lines.

Energizer Moving And Storage, World Wide Van Lines Thieves

My father contacted World Wide Moving Company to help us plan a cross country move from Los Angeles, Ca to Philadelphia, Pa. He dealt with a woman named Suzanne who gave us a not to exceed quote of $2925.00 I put together a very accurate list of all the items that we would need move and included an estimate of 30 medium sized boxes. We were moving out of a small 2 bedroom apartment and had a rough idea of what the weight would be in the truck. My father expressed his concerns about using a broker moving company and was assured by Suzanne that not only were they not a broker moving company but that they also had their own line of moving trucks.

Their estimate seemed considerably more reasonable then many of the other moving companies my father had contacted. We decided to go with worldwide and had a set moving date of December 5, 2008. We discussed parking on the street and decided that Friday was the best day to fit a truck that large on the street due to street closing. I had moved across country once already and was expecting a rather large truck to come and pick up our belongings.

As my moving day approached I realized that we would have about 15 more boxes then we originally anticipated so I made sure that we contacted World Wide with the updated box amount. We were told that 15 more boxes would be fine and that it would not raise our quote because we still had our alotted space in the truck for our 2 bedroom move.

The day before our move the driver still had not contacted me with a pick up time so I called them first. I was told between 10am-12pm for our pickup. On our moving day the driver finally called and told us he was on our street and asked if we could come meet him outside. The driver told us his name was Mike. As we walked outside expecting a huge World Wide Moving truck to come down the street we stared in disbelief at a the 26ft Yellow Penske rental truck coming down the street. The driver parked and introduced himself as Mike. Two other men climbed out of the truck and I noticed a female also sitting in the front seat.

At this point I was getting upset and my concern was growing. Once I walked them into my apartment I asked Mike if the big truck was parked near by and if this was just the shuttle for our stuff? I was instead informed that they had no trucks and that all of my stuff was going to be taken to their storage unit until one of their trucks could pick up my stuff and head east. At this point I was extremely confused and I called my father to ask if this was what he had agreed to.

My father had no idea when he hired World Wide that they were a broker moving company. Apparently, when you look on World Wides website in very small print it clearly states that they are a broker and that their sales reps are allowed to lie and say whatever they deem necessary to close a sale and they will not be held responsible for what happens once their end of the transaction is done! What kind of a legitimate moving company is allowed to say that?! Mike told us that he worked for Energizer Moving and Storage out of North Hollywood and that they had no affliation with World Wide Moving.

At this point we had already paid World Wide a deposit of $824.37 and were told that the remaining balance would not be due until all of our stuff was delivered in Pa. Mike however had a different story for us in Ca. He came in and took a two second look at our stuff and brought out papers for me to sign. He told us that World Wide had underestimated our weight and that we had close to 15,000lbs worth of stuff in our two bedroom apt. He also told us that his quote would now be $5500.00 and that we had to pay him 50% of his quoted fee before they would even begin loading our stuff. This was a stressful move for my boyfriend and I as we already had a non refundable flight scheduled for ten pm that night and had to ship our two dogs on the same flight. We had to very carefully plan this whole move because of our animals and World Wide and Energizer quite literally had us by the balls at this point. And they knew it.

My father spoke to Mike directly on the phone and contacted World Wide dispatch. We agreed the money would be paid once our stuff was weighed. I was not aware that during this time the movers were supposed to give me the weight of the truck prior to loading our stuff in as well. We never saw that document. The two other men began loading our stuff, slowly. Mike sat at the table and filled out our inventory list half assed and then left to go out to his truck to talk to what I then realized was his girlfriend. As if watching three men load up everything I own into a Penske rental truck wasnt bad enough, but the guy had his girlfriend sitting in the truck!!!

As time went on the second mover disappeared too, and there was now only one man packing and loading the truck. One man doing the job of three. When they were finally finished Mike brought me papers to sign. He told me that World Wide had indicated that we would only fill about a quarter of their truck. I honestly didnt see how that was possible with the detailed inventory list I had provided them up front. He said that we had about 19,000lbs worth of stuff. So now we had gone from 15 to 19,000lbs. He assured me that it was in my best interest so sign the box that agreed to pay the drivers weight estimate because if they took the truck to get weighed my price was going to be even higher. They had taken so long to load our stuff now that I didnt even have time to stand there and argue with him because we needed to leave for the airport. So I signed the papers and 'Mike' assured me that my stuff was in good hands. He then asked when I wanted my stuff delivered. I told him I would be in PA tomorrow so I wanted it ASAP. Of course.

As we were leaving Mike had the nerve to bring his girlfriend out of the truck and ask if she could use my bathroom. Yes, after watching them load up all my stuff, knowing in the pit of my stomach that Id be lucky to see any of it again I was thrilled with the idea of doing him a favor and letting her use my bathroom! Before they left my father had told Energizer that they would be paid in cash and in full when my stuff arrived on the other end. They agreed and left. I watched everything I owned drive off with three Mexicans with tattooed necks in a Penske truck. With his girlfriend in the front seat.

5 days later we got a call from the driver that would be delivering our stuff. He spoke with my father and told us he was in Montana, and that they were planning to be in PA two days later. I really didn't see how that was possible but I was trying to look on the bright side. Three days passed; no driver. My father called the driver again and he said they had gotten stuck in Montana with heavy snow. We looked online at the recent weather in Montana and they hadnt gotten a flake of snow in over a week. So we waited again.

A couple days later we were told Ohio and that theyd be in Pa the following day. He assured us that he had to deliver the next day because he had to be in New York for another delivery right after. That day passed and no delivery. Spoke to the driver again and this time he told my father that he was at a holding facility and he couldn't work that day because it was a Jewish Holiday. He said he wasn't allowed to work or talk on a phone for a whole day. I honestly couldnt believe that we were hearing this BS. So the day after this apparent Jewish Holiday the driver said hed be at our house by 7am bright and early. He wasnt there by 7am but he did arrive by 1pm. I was having my stuff delivered to a storage unit near by so we met him there.

Once the truck pulled up the two drivers didnt want to open the trailer until we paid them in full. They opened the side door for us to peak inside but didnt want to open the back door. I realized later that was because when they had unloaded their last customers stuff they hadnt secured mine so many of my boxes had fallen over and were spilling out. The driver told us that they werent the ones who had loaded the truck that he just picked up the trailer and drove it. He told us Energizer loaded it so any damages were because of them. We paid them so I could unload my stuff and check it.

About 70% of my boxes had obviously been opened and they clearly didnt even try to make it look like they hadnt been. All my big boxes had been rifled through, the boxes had holes in them and they were dented and smashed in. They looked like they had been in world war three. I had a couple of key boxes I was specifically looking for as they unloaded it. I had 3 pieces of furniture that had broken legs and were damaged. One of our boxes had my boyfriends brand new playstation 3 in it along with all of its equipment.

When this box was pulled out the top was dented in like it didnt have enough in it to keep its shape. We opened it and the box was half empty and my playstation was gone. The only thing left in the box was a printer for my computer; they hadnt even bothered to put the paper and stuffing we had in it surrounding the game system. So my $500.00 gamestation was now gone and that didnt include the extra controllers and parts we had with it. I also had a new girls snowboard with bindings on it that was INCLUDED with my inventory. The board was $300 and the bindings on it were another 300.00 and that was missing too. I assumed Mike had found this to be great present for his girlfriend.

We contacted the owner of Energizer Moving and Storage about our missing stuff and he was apparently shocked. He told us that he was going to look into this, and that if this was true that his driver was going to lose his job and be arrested. He did tell us that the drivers name wasnt even Mike, his name was Rob. The owner promised us that he was going to pay us back for the stuff that was stolen and that he didnt want his customers upset.
