unsmooth move
A Van Lines helped me move from North Carolina to Georgia. The estimate was off more than $1,200 with no explanation other than rising gas prices. They called the day before the move and stated that they couldn’t pick up my load until the following week. After much bantering, they finally showed up the next day. When the load arrived, they’d broken all my china serving pieces, and there were terrible scratches on all my wooden chairs. They forgot my dining room table, and it took more than three weeks to bring the table back. When it finally arrived, one of the legs was torn off and glued back on. They refused to pay for the damages and won’t give me a final copy of the bill. They avoided my calls and were extremely unprofessional. In all of my conversations with management, they never apologized, repeatedly hung up and used explicative terms.

DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS.
This company has a history of having nice smooth talking sales personnel who convince you they can estimate your move without seeing your home or apartment in person. Then they give you a low ball bid they have no intention of honoring. When they come to pick up your goods they are unable to get everything in the truck they bring and that is when the trouble starts. If you are smart you will let them take away what they say they have contracted for and deliver it to you and you worry about how to move the rest.
If you let them take the additional amount the price per pound doubles and they give you 30 days to come up with the money or they send all your belongings to auction.
Nick is the name of the owner and he does not negotiate and he does not care about you or your belongings.
DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS.

Really upset
We hired A Van Lines to move our belongings on August 11 2008. Per the companies instructions we were to give them a credit card number to secure the truck and were told that the card would not be charged anything as long as we paid the driver by their instructions. There were two options to pay, 1. with a money order or 2. with cash. We chose to pay with cash. When the driver arrived he was paid the initial fee (half of the quote) in cash a sum of $840.00. The balance would be paid after he had delivered our belongings.
After 11 hours of packing and moving the driver made it to the house at 11:00pm. We were to tired to continue so they came back the following day. The following day the driver began coming up with other fees that he said we owed such as fuel surcharge fess and extra space that was not listed in the quote. We agreed on a price with the driver to cover the extra charges because we wanted this to end as soon as possible. The driver (his name is Darrell) was paid a final cash payment of $1560.00. He gave me some paperwork to sign and then left.
One month later I received my credit card statement and it had an unauthorized charge of $1850.00 for moving fees owed A Van Lines. I have contacted the owner (Nick) and he said that the drivers paperwork (which I sighned) said that the driver was not paid. Nick had a conference call with myself and Darrell to see if the driver was lying about the cash. Nick agreed that his driver was being dishonest and promised to send the $1850.00 back. I have not seen any money and Nick will not take my calls. Can you please help with this or tell me the best course of action.
I am now $1850.00 in debt to a credit card company that I should not have to pay.

Damages
Almost nothing arrived undamaged. Our furniture was used while in storage...game pieces were found in my jewelry cabinet when our furniture was delivered.
After sending detailed pictures and a letter to their "Claim Management" department, we received a check for $243.00!! We sent it back. That would not even cover the cost of the boxsprings for our King sized mattress; that never arrived. There is a permanent line across our wide screen TV by being dumped on it's side. My painting, worth $3,200.00 was used as a shieve between furniture pieces. We were not happy at all with their performance?!% The claim management is NOT Insurance, it is a 3rd party. I am now waiting for the owner, Nick, to call. Oh by the way, he changed the name of the company to A moving company.

Quite possibly the biggest scammers ever
I moved with A Van Lines formerly known as AAA-Van Lines based out of Georgia based on their low quote. Big mistake!!! They quoted me $1,500.00 for my full service no surprises move. That price ended up being $4,900.00 and when I questioned the moving price I was told "if you don't pay then we will put your stuff in storage and auction it off" real low lives and if you use this company then you will get robbed and have no recourse other than the better business bureau. They ruined my life and will try to ruin yours.

AAA - A Vanlines Moving Disaster
I am 12 year U.S. Air Force disabled veteran, medically (honorably) discharged in November of 2006 and I am also a single of mother of two. I currently work for the Department of Defense at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and I recently moved my family to Maryland from North Carolina. However, I've, recently, been the victim of what the Federal Trade Commission lists as rogue movers" or what the FBI, your organization, has described on your website as 'The Case of the Moving Violations.'
Please note that AAA Vanlines of 6180 Atlantic Blvd. Suite D Norcross GA 30071, practices the same scenarios as the information posted on the FBI's website.
Said company contacted me via e-mail around July 11, 2008. I was eventually quoted a price of $2709.00 to have my household goods moved from North Carolina to Maryland and was required to pay half of said fee by credit card prior to the movers packing my items. The movers arrived at my home on July 29, 2008 with a 'Budget' rental truck that was smaller than what was described to me by the customer service representative that handled my case whose name is James Whittle (sales manager). I questioned said vehicle and was continuously assured via phone by Mr. Whittle that the truck would be big enough to store my items, as I had approximately 8,000 lbs of furniture and etc... Said vehicle wasn't big enough and I had to end up transporting some of my personal belongings by POV to Maryland from North Carolina.
My belongings were transported back to Georgia from North Carolina and I soon received a phone call from Mr. Whittle stating the price of the move had gone up from $2,709.00 to $4643.00. I was told due to my goods taking up more space than they estimated, as the scenario on your website and the given packing materials and fuel cost that the price had gone up. I was shocked that the price had gone up so much and when I contacted the sales manager, Mr. Whittle, to discuss such, he hung the phone up on me more than once. I had not disrespected him, but I did raise my voice because he didn't want to hear me out in reference to the price change.
I was scheduled for a 1 August 08 delivery, but the delivery personnel didn't arrive until 8pm that evening due to personal reasons as stated by the driver. To make a long story short, the delivery personnel left my home without finishing the job as I was promised. They stated that they were going to take a cigarette break, but they ended up leaving without saying anything to me. When my mother heard their truck start she reminded them of furniture that still needed to be moved or assembled and they acknowledged that they knew of this and would be right back upon the end of their cigarette break. However, they never returned as mentioned. I had several items that were left in my garage with the company's blankets still intact. I have pictures for proof. Mind you, I had already submitted full payment to the delivery personnel so I paid for a service, but the contract was breached. Afterwards, I tried contacting the delivery personnel twice, as the driver contacted me prior to arriving to confirm my delivery address. The driver didn't answer the phone. I, then, called the company and tried to notify the sales manager, but to no avail. I left a message on his answering service. He never returned my phone call. I tried e-mailing the sales manager, but there was no response, but prior to the move the sales manager contacted me consistently and returned all of my phone calls. I tried contacting the manager of the company, but I was told that James was the manager. I didn't receive a call or anything until it was realized that I stopped payment on a personal check because of breach of contract.
Therefore, I ended up paying the company $3,000 and stopped payment on a check for $1,653.00. I wasn't allowed to see the truck being weighed and per the gentleman that packed my items who goes by the name of Malachi, stated he didn't use $2,000 in packing materials and that he knew the company had been dishonest with other customers. The delivery personnel stated the same thing so I was shocked to know that these gentlemen continued to work for a company like this. I have filed complaints with the Federal Motor Carrier's Commission, the Better Business Bureau, the Georgia State Attorney General's Office, and the Federal Trade Commission. I have had to also contract a lawyer in reference.
I, again, contacted the company on August 14, 2008 and was able to finally speak with the owner of the company who later told me he would only reimburse me $500.00 even after speaking with a lawyer who spoke on my behalf. The owner threatened me saying he would take me to court and ruin my credit because of something his delivery personnel did to me, which is a travesty of justice. I discovered on 14 August 08, that AAA Vanlines (A Vanlines) have had 99 complaints in the last 36 months for delivery issues, customer issues, charges that were bogus and etc... Some of the complaints were resolved, but most were unresolved or administratively resolved. The BBB has revoked their license and it was found through the BBB that they have been illegally using the BBB logo. Also be advised that the sales manager, James Whittle, after having received my household goods at their location in Georgia, contacted me to state that if I didn't accept a delivery date of 29 July 08 instead of the date we agreed upon of 01 Aug 08, that they would keep my household goods until they could deliver them and charge me. In their contract it stated no storage fees for 30 days. I contacted the gentleman who packed up my household goods in North Carolina, who goes by the name of Malachi, several times to find out what was going on with my shipment and he stated he'd speak to someone on my behalf because he knew what they were trying to do to me. I, as mentioned, received my items on 1 Aug 08, but only after having to go through 'hell.' This company is in the business of scamming innocent people and they really need to be stopped before many other people experience what hundreds of others, including myself have already experience.
I have since tipped off the FBI regarding this company and to my surprise they have been aware of moving companies like this one, as they have a scenario on their website that states exactly the ordeal I experienced. With that, I contacted the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Georgia to find out that this company has been reported 99 times within the last three years, they are using the BBB logo illegally, and their license was revoked by the BBB. I have informed the Federal Trade Commission, the Georgia State Attorney General's Office and the Federal Motor Carrier's Association regarding this company and their deceitful practices.

A Van Lines - AAA Van Lines A worst ever experience with Mov
We hired 'A van lines movers', a Norcross company to move our household stuff to Tampa, FL from Lawrenceville, Ga. Nick from A Van Lines, visited our house for an estimate. He gave us an estimate of $1700 at first, after the negotiations and emphasis to close the contract right then and there; I was offered $1500 for the complete move. I rendered my personal check of $100 as deposit to book the move and bind in contract. It was a hand written contract and upon asking to get me a copy, I was told that his office will send me an email copy. Email copy said an estimate, which made me confuse. I replied to the email to confirm whether the price I was quoted is still an estimate or a confirmation. I got a reply that it is a confirmation. I have the copy of the email. Pick up date was Friday, Oct 24th, 2008. On Oct 24th, movers showed up in the morning to load up. I gave another $700 of money order before loading the stuff per contract and balance will be due at the time of delivery. They loaded all our stuff and left. Upon asking several times that when my stuff will be in Tampa, I was told every time that they don't know yet, they will let us know by phone. Saturday, Oct 25th, in the morning I received a call from Nick saying that my stuff weighs more than expected. The price has changed and now it will cost us $3800 to move my stuff to Tampa. That shocked me. I went to his office to discuss and everything flipped. I asked to show me the hand written contract that I had signed on the day when Nick came for an estimate. They said they discarded it because it has no use since everything is in computer. I kept arguing to stay on the price I was quoted a price based on move not based on weight, but they did not listened. They insisted that either take the delivery back or pay the price. They were very rude and unprofessional in fact they cursed me out couple times. Well, I was out of the house and the stuff and had no choice. We made another deal that to agree on $2800. $800 was already paid; balance of $2000 will be paid at the time of delivery. We made another agreement to do flat price contract of $2800. This time I made them clear that tomorrow, i.e. Sunday October 26th, I am leaving for Tampa with my family to get the new house keys and shall be waiting for movers. I was told that it should be fine. In fact I was told that I will get a call from office to confirm it. I never received any call rather I made few calls and I was yelled that driver will call me. Sunday at 6:30am in the morning me, my wife and our 2 year old daughter left for Tampa. On half way I called them to confirm if the movers are on their way to Tampa. I was told that yes. We reached Tampa around 3pm. I called several times to Nick's cell 770-900-1010 and nobody answered. Finally around 4 pm driver called and said that he just left for Tampa and it will be too late in the night to finish the delivery. I forced him to come to Tampa because I had nothing to sit, sleep or do anything. I had no stuff. He said he will try. In evening again I started called driver but there was no answer. Around 8pm driver calls again and says that he can't make it Tampa that night so he will come tomorrow, He promised that he will come between noon and 1 pm. Our frustration was sky high and I had lost all my tolerance level. We had no choice but to stay in hotel. We stayed in hotel and spent extra $150 for one night. Next morning, I called again and there no response. Driver calls me around 1pm that he is 30 mins away. Mover shows up at 4pm. They were only two skinny guys; they barely can lift any heavy box. They demanded payment before unloading. I refuse to do that because I wanted to make sure my stuff in same condition and nothing is missing since my stuff is out on the road for 2 days. Office called me and shouted on me to pay the driver otherwise they will take the truck back and it will cost $15000 to release once the truck is left the premises. I tried to adjust my one night hotel stay in the price since I was misleading from day 1; they did not hear anything and hung up on me. I had no choice but to pay the driver $2000. I paid him $1100 in money orders and $900 in cash. They began unloading. They started stacking stuff in my car garage. Unload finished at 11pm. They left everything in my car garage and only fixed my bad and dresser and mirror. They did not take anything upstairs and left. We had more than 100 boxes and half of them were very heavy. We have about 13 boxes missing on the delivery. They broke one of our dinning set chairs, chipped one corner of our house, and made some dents on the wall while fixing our furniture. They did not hook up our dryer and washer either. Whereas I was told that they will assemble and disassemble everything and put it back the way they were. Our beds are still loose and make noises. They did a very poor job on the whole. We had to hire street guys and pay $800 to them to take our stuff upstairs. I have the inventory sheets that had everything on it. I have a list of missing stuff. I am demanding all my money back since I did not get delivery on time, I have missing stuff, broke our furniture, chipped our walls and was treated like nothing. We were insulted few times which caused a big time frustration. Please help us to get our money back and stuff. I would not deal with them anymore. I have the copy of contract and the copy of inventory sheet. I strongy urge everyone here of beware of the company!!

The worst moving company ever!!! Tripled my price, cursed me out, held my items hostage for 2 months until I paid their ridiculous ransom and worst of all broke 50% of my belongings. I would never recommend this company to my worst enemy.
