Moving Scams
I also contracted Greenway Van Lines to pickup
my personal belongings in August 2009. They
also said it would be there in a couple of
days. My things were already packed by me and
labeled with neon color 4X6 Labels with my
name and address of destination. The movers
that came on the 14th when they should've
picked up on the 15th. It was eight in the
morning when two men showed up. When they
arrived, the truck they had no division and
there were some others things already in the
truck. When questioned about how they would
prevent the mixing of my things with those on
the truck already, Mr. Joseph Ashdot said not
to worry that they would place a divider. There
was none. I received a quote from Jessica the
sales rep at Greenway for $1050 and I was
charged by Mr. Ashdot $1848 because he claimed
my boxes were bigger. I still had some last
minute packing since they arrived a day
earlier. Instead of taking the furniture in the
bedroom, they were looking at what I was doing.
Mr. Ashdot at some point also asked me if I had
a computer which I replied to him that I did
but I was taking it with me. I found this very
odd. Or the other guy asking me what the box
had that it was heavy and I said books. And it
wasn't because they were being careful with my
things since I complained to the one guy that
he was piling the big boxes on top of the small
ones. Well I started getting annoyed due to
their insisting that they could pack the rest
or that it was taking too long. In the
meantime, they were also labeling the cartons
with labels the size of 3/4 and noting on
the bill of lading nothing to identify my
cartons, aside from my complaint that on his
list he showed 3 boxes less from my list which
he said he could not take everything out of the
truck to confirm and he would do that when they
unloaded the truck at their warehouse or
storage. So I wrote on the bill of lading a
note that there were 50 numbered cartons and
items (TV stand, exercise equipment etc)
excluding the bedroom 5pc set. So I had 3
cartons that never arrived, and by coincidence,
the boxes included one of books and the other
of computer equipment and supply. First they
would not answer my calls, than Dave, the
Resolution Manager at Greenway Van Lines sent
me an email that Joseph Ashdot from Accurate
Moving Services would provide me with the
Claims Form to start the processing. Well I did
complete the blank form sent by Mr Ashdot with
nothing on it with info from his company and/or
any signature of a responsible individual. This
was in December 09. When I sent the form back
registered and return receipt requested, I did
not hear back from them. I contacted them by
email since when you call them you are unable
to reach them at all. At Greenway, they are not
in the office and at Accurate, you get a fax
machine. When I sent them an email advising
them of my intention to proceed with legal
action, I get a nasty email back from Mr.
Ashdot saying he has 6 months to reply to the
claim by law and that he might go the extra mile to satisfy me. So I waited and have not
heard back from either company since. I tried
calling without reaching someone. The email to
both companies was returned as undeliverable.
To this day, I was not compensated for my loss
and due to personal information also in those
cartons, I am paying for an identity guard
company to keep track of my personal
information use. I believe there was negligence
and abuse committed here against my rights.
They received their payment and still I did not
receive all my things. This Mr Ashdot was
difficult and rude from the day he showed up to
pickup my household goods. These companies
think they can get away with this, well they
have something else coming because I will place
complaints on every consumer website and also
complaint to the necessary agencies. If we as
citizens have to submit to credit background
checks to get a job, why are these individuals
registering businesses without the due
background check also. Greenway was in Dania,FL
and now they are in Ft Lauderdale, FL; their
subcontrator was in Brooklyn, NY and now are in
NJ. I may have to assume the my loss but I will
make it my business to prevent others from
getting ripped off by those companies.

What customer service? What Honesty?
We have many complaints when it comes to
Greenway including an original quote of 5, 000
which increased to 13, 000 upon arrival of our
furnishings. My husband and I spent a vast
amount of time compiling a list of each and
every item that would be shipped.
It took an entire two weeks to receive our
furnishings in what we were told would be a two
day trip.
The movers arrived a day late after several
phone calls to Dave, the dispatcher, as he
assured us they would be there as scheduled.
When they arrived we told them the truck would
never hold all of the contents of our house but
they assured us it would. It didn't. We had to
leave as we were driving to our new state. The
packers/movers took 2 extra days to pack the
contents of our home. We were charged for the
extra truck they required as well as as the
expense to acquire said truck. Our realtor
arrived at our home on their last full day of
packing to find the entire house open, doors
wide open and only a mattress and ironing board
remaining. Yet the we were told they had an
entire day of packing left. We found out that
the packers were pulled from our house to go to
another job to unload. They did not leave with
our furnishings for another two days.
We were in constant contact with Greenway
through the entire move. Most of the time
dealing with a receptionist who would tell us
the dispatcher Dave, was not available and she
had no information for us. We were given many
different excuses as to why we hadn't received
our furnishings which included many side trips
to other jobs to help unload other trucks along
the way. Dave spent many days telling us that
our shipment would arrive later that day. Later
that day would always come with no trucks
arriving. I spent many long days waiting at an
empty house for nothing. We were never able to
get anyone on the phone until another day or
two. Always an excuse but never a truck. This
went on for two weeks. As I said previously our
original estimated cost of 5, 000 was increased
to 13, 000 which we were told about on the last
day of packing. When we did finally receive our
shipment many of our items were damaged or
missing. We actually watched one of the movers
drop a desktop computer on the pavement only to
scoop it back into the box with his foot. No
apology. We watched in shock and horror.
No we did NOT file a complaint for our items.
We suffered a great personal tragedy on the
final day of our move which I will not get into
here. Our nerves were completely shot after
spending the last two weeks dealing with this
company. We just wanted to be in our new home
and have our belongings.
I can't warn people enough of this company's
practices. They are deceitful and corrupt. They
are the nicest people to deal with when making
the original arrangements. They bend over
backwards to assure you that everything will
work out exactly as they have stated. Once they
arrive at your home, you are screwed.
I would like to add that I have moved several
times in my lifetime, including from state to
state and coast to coast. A few little bumps in
the road are to be expected. The practices of
Greenway are not bumps in the road. They made
our move a living nightmare. I had called Dave
many times in tears as I was just at my wits
end, he didn't care, never offered so much as
an apology or tried to rectify any of the
mistakes they had made. This place needs to be
shut down immediately.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Liars, Thieves. They picked-up my stuff 11/22/09 and I didn't see it until 2/22/10. That's 3 months! Dave tells lie after lie. First I was told my stuff would be driven to CA and stored in their temperature controlled storage in CA until I was ready for delivery. On 1/5/10 I was told It's in transit to you. 10 days later I was told It's in storage in Atlanta. 3 weeks later I was told, It's in Denver, truck broke down. Original estimate $1400 - final charge $2500! I only paid because they were holding my stuff hostage - I had to pay. Greenway didn't deliver my stuff - they had a 3rd party deliver it. The drivers told me they picked my stuff up in Florida 7 days before they delivered it. Dave never once told me my stuff was in Florida. They charged $1400 for boxes! I was always told I had to talk to Dave - he was the only one who knew where my stuff was. I sat on for over 30 minutes every time - and then I would hang up. One time I called I know it was Dave but he kept saying, No Maam, it's not Dave. I know it was - I recognized his voice. He put me on hold & never came back to the phone. His lies continued. I sent him an email after I got my stuff and told him he lied to me. He wrote back that he did not lie, he had no idea my stuff was in Florida. He said he told me what he was told every time I asked. He's so arrogant, he responds to emails with more lies and threats. He tried to turn the table around and tell me I had a problem! He is the most arrogant liar ever. I think he owns the company, but he lies and says he doesn't. Do NOT ever use this company.

The worst ever
This company is the worst and I would never recommend this company to any one ever. I recieve an orginal quote for them of $1567.00. I packed everything myself and they didnt have to do any packing just taking down the furniture and packing that. When they got there they started to tell me what was wrong with my inventory list. To sum it up they added an extra $600 sum odd dollars on to the orginal quote. My items where picked up last Thursday (April 30) here it is 7 days later and still no items. I was told 2-7 business days and I am still waiting. I have to get back to where I oved from because my children are still in school. When I call no one seems to know anything and I am really feed up with this whole situation. I just want my items and I refuse to pay the balance.

Greenway Vanlines Moving Company Scam
Greenway ripped us off on our move from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando. We were quoted a price of $650, and they charge hourly.
First we requested several times they be there between 8 and 9am we had to be out of our apartment and needed to be on the way to Orlando early. Every time they verified and said it would be no problem. However the driver didnt show up until 10:50 am.
When they did arrive we asked why someone elses items were in the truck and they commented those items were going to Texas at some point. They then took forever to load our 2 bedroom apartment. Finally at 2:15 they left and my husband and I finished cleaning and then left 40 minutes after them in our seperate cars.
The drive is at most 40 minutes...The delivery truck didnt show up until 9:45pm; hours after we did. THey complained of traffic, well we took the same route went through the same traffic and I even stopped in Port St Lucie to drop my daughter off with friends (an additional 45 minutes for my trip). At 10pm they go over the details and say we have to pay first and we have to pay for gas. Gas was included and we explained this but they insisted and it was so late we couldnt call the office, and if we didn't pay they wouldn't unload our things.
Finally 11pm or so my husband goes to look at the truck to make sure before they leave ALL of our things are actually out of the truck, well low and behold; not only are our things gone but the things for Texas have mysteriously come off the truck as well. The drivers quickly left.
All in all $1100 later we paid for them to drop off other peoples things while paying by the hour, the whole day took about 6 hours longer than it was supposed to AND we paid for gas.
I called Greenway today to complain and they listened and sounded concernced and said they would call me back......they have not yet....that was 8 hours ago.
