NEVER use WORLD MOVING SERVICES

The Worst, Amazing bunch of Liars can be found in this place: WORLD MOVING SERVICES.They are NOT a shipping company but Brokers. They charge you insane fee for directing you to a shipping company which they never reveal till you pay the deposit.

I dealt my move with a guy called WILL RIPPY who claims to be the senior moving consultant.he talks extremely well and lies to you about everything you ask him right from the estimate, the insurance to the moving date and delivery date.I was put through a shipping company called CROSS-COUNTRY VAN LINES who also have awful ratings. They both go hand-in-hand very well.

The guy WILL RIPPY gave me all false information like:

1.The shipping fee minus the deposit will have to be paid ONLY at my destination(India) which was not true.

2.I can choose items on which i want insurance. But the insurance people said ,I have to get insured for all the goods i ship...which obviously turned to be expensive.

3.Never responded to my mails or calls once i paid the deposit.

Do NOT use their service at any cost.I used them for my international move.Got fooled by BBB rating. Please do not go by the ratings..rather go by the Reviews.I shall list few links here so that you can cross-check about these guys.

check them out in :

rateitall.com

moverrevies.com

Also, they come with other names like Nationwide reloacions and so on...Please do check the reviews for them as well.

Good luck with your move guys!!!

SCAM- not honest people

I hired World Moving Services who contracted with A Topp's as a carrier for my move. I arranged for my father to be there for the pick up in RI as I had already moved out of state. 90% of my stuff was already packed and as my parents started to wrap the remainder of my belongings, the movers said "don't worry, we can do that". When the movers were done packing my belongings, they left without giving a copy of the paperwork to my father. Working with the sales person on the inventory list, he estimated my weight to be 2002 pounds. I was called after the pick up and told my weight went over 1198 ponds and they were charging $740 packing fees.

Original quote : $1553.17 (for 2002 pounds)

Requested final payment: $3229.00 (claiming weight was over 1198 pounds making total weight 3200 pounds plus "packing charges")

I was not able to get anywhere with customer service. Finally Jeff called to explain my delivery date and we spoke about the additional charges. I requested a re-weigh that I be present for, he agreed. He then agreed that the packing charges were very high considering 90% had been packed and the movers may have put things in boxes that did not have to be, i.e. end tables. He agreed to reduce the packing charges to $350. I had this in writing, was told by World Moving Services that the packing charges were reduced and it was written on my receipt by the driver at delivery. After delivery, I followed to him to weigh station and was correct that my furniture did not go over by 1198 pounds but was actually under estimated weight and was only 1900 pounds. Also I was charged for shrink wrapping things that were never shrink wrapped, matresses, desk chair. There were also many boxes that were full of nothing but broken glass and my washer was packed on top of my office desk and tv making them both wet. At this point Jeff had to reimburse me the additional weight charges of $934.00 and refused to take $350 off for packing even though he verbally agreed and it was in writing. He even said his driver never wrote it on contract even though he did and initialed it. Very deceptive customer service. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!

PROFESSIONAL SCAM ARTIST

PROFESSIONAL SCAM ARTIST pose as Your Personal Moving Consultant (we had Karlos) to help you through your move. There needs to be a class action lawsuit brought against this company. They ripped us off for $1,108.66 for services we never got. They sent five men-only one spoke fluent English-in a little raggedy beat up truck to move a full 2 level condo. We were immediately asked for another deposit from these contracted out movers and to sign another contract because, by looking at my property (probably the value of what I had), I had more than was estimated. While making call to get a hold of the scam artist that set up the move for us, the one English-speaking worker pulled me to the side and told me Don't sign anything. They do this all the time and they rip people off. This guy then offered to get a buddy of his and a rental truck and move me straight to my destination. All I had to do is rent the truck, pay for gas and give him and his friend $250 a piece. No, I didnt have IDIOT written on my forehead but let him think I would be giving him a call. Karlos told me everything would be okay and that it was a misunderstanding-we were not to sign any other papers. The next day they sent four men and again, only one spoke English. This crew was much more professional in appearance. They then told us that we had to sign a contract with them in order for them to move anything. By the way, Karlos assured me that there would only be ONE team of movers moving/handling my property, thus minimizing the chain of liability. I was very adamant on this point and expressed this to Karlos. So, while I am thinking I am going to have one team of movers loading, transporting and unloading my property. When talking to the first team of movers, through broken English, I was told that my property was NOT going straight to my destination as I was told. Instead, it was going to sit in a warehouse in Chicago and sit until there was enough freight to load a truck going in the direction of my destination and that they could not guarantee when my property would be delivered! This started in September and we are still disputing the NON-REFUNDALBE deposit through our credit card company. By the number of complaints and negative postings.any attorney interested in the possibility of a class action lawsuit -please take em on! You can also check soon for my posting on RipoffReport.com. I want my money back and I am sure these other people do to. Also, I highly recommend NATIONAL VAN LINES MOVING. Extremely professional, clean, courteous and very reasonable. Oh, they are also HONEST! Tracy

A SCAM!! BEWARE READ THIS

This is a copy that I had submitted for A-Topps as well, in addition I added on to the end regarding my experience with WORLD MOVING SERVICES.

WMS is a brokerage firm which subcontracts to many different companies. Unfortunately I was dealt the short straw and got A-Topps.

I just moved to a position down south, along with me was among other things brand new; cooking set, knife set, and silver-ware set. I also had a Jade mattress, and numerous DVD's, an 8mm camcorder, and 2 other boxes which vanished. These things are not the items that are keeping me up at night(it is 5 AM and I have been unable to sleep since 3). The things that are keeping me up, are the personal possessions, an 8mm tape of my sisters high school graduation, pictures of my grandfather, family vacation albums among others ALL OF WHICH CAN NOT BE REPLACED!

I beg anyone who must move to take items that you hold so closely to you with you regardless, god forbid you must go through what I am right now. For gods sake mail those items if need be!!

The delivery man was a nice guy and very helpful in the hope that my items were further forward the truck( after they left, but still very helpful and i thank him for it). The items that I did receive were packed with care. The warehouse took about a week to locate my lost items to no avail.

My guess is that someone just saw the label DVD on the side of the one container, and the Pots and Pans were new in box, so that would be easy to spot. After finally saying today that we need to move forward (I have been eating out since 10/12 when I moved down here to begin work, and the lease began on the 1st, I just didn't want to go out and buy new pots and pans), I was given the number of the insurance company and told "good luck" which did not make me the least bit happy. I still have hope, but i know my odds.

I also have someones yellow tool box(lot #J2218 item # 172 READS VAN SERVICE), and a vintage lamp(Same lot number as mine!?!?!SERIOUSLY/WRECKLESS!?!?!?! SS2526 Item # 085) from two other different moves. I have contacted the moving company, and hope that they will pick these items up from me and get them to their owners.

I hope that my experience was a fluke, if that not be the case, it would be border line criminal.

A-Topps was subcontracted through "WORLD MOVING SERVICES," which was the first part of this 20 day migraine. If you see this company, run far far away. As soon as I signed there was an apparent downward progression of the broker caring about me(not A-Topps, World moving services), A-Topps Customer service just took a little longer to get back to me on the subject of attempting to find my items.

I wish that the moving company would realize how difficult it would be for them to survive if i romped through their own house and took 30% of their items at random. It is costly and does not allow someone to feel the home-ness that sentimental items provide. I have been eating my cereal with throw away forks for the last 8 days because i simply cant afford to buy a good set again(did it 2 weeks ago, along with pots and pans and have those bills to pay), and they now expect me to have to purchase a new set of pots and pans, AND THEN ARGUE WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY. PLEASE!

Enough is enough at one point, I will learn this lesson and walk away with much wisdom about what needs to be done in life and who to trust to do it (you bet i will move my own things from now on) I will drive then hire loaders/unloaders.

I paid close to 2000(including an additional 250 for about 6 large boxes which they placed my items in, with packing paper!!) dollars to move 532 miles and lost over 1600 dollars in material items not including anything sentimental. Learn from this.

World Moving services advised me that the items would be at my new house in 2 days, instead they were transported up to New York, stolen, then the remainder of my items were finally given to me on 11/9, 11 days after the initial pick up.

This company does not care about you after you sign, they subcontracted A-Topps moving services which proceeded to loose my most valuable items. Looking back, I feel hustled.

Bad

OH my god. I wish I had found this site before I let them do my move.

So, now that I am needing a reprieve from unpacking boxes, I wanted to be sure and warn everyone against using World Moving Services for your move. To say I was not pleased with World Moving Services would be the understatement of the year.

Before choosing World Moving Services, I told them that it was between them and one other moving company and my determing factor was if they could do the & pack and load" on the day I needed. They assured me that they could. I took the day off from work, and got all ready for the move, which was scheduled for Friday. Late in the evening on the night before, having never heard from the dispatcher on what time they would be arriving the next morning, I began calling the toll-free number. After many calls to my & agent& they let me know that my move had been pushed back by one day and they wouldn't be arriving until Saturday. The agent (Tom) who was supposed to be & with me through the whole experience & stopped returning my calls on Thursday night. I still haven't heard from him after placing multiple calls asking him to call me.

I had given them a very detailed inventory over the phone and they gave me a & not to exceed price.& However when the movers arrived they informed me that it was a straight charge per pound per mile. Luckily, I had estimated well but it still went over by a couple hundred dollars. So much for the & not to exceed & price.

Also, in the whole process, World Moving Services never informed me that when the movers arrived at my new home for delivery they would not take a credit card. They certainly accepted my credit card when needing a deposit over the phone to reserve my move date (which they didn't meet anyway). The night before the move, a company called Cross Country Movers called me and told me they would be moving me. This was the first time I had heard of this company. They then informed me that I had to pay in cash or cashier's check or money order and they would not unload the truck until they were paid in full. This was also when I found out that I would be charged a per pound/per mile charge instead of my quoted NTE price.

I had no idea who was going to show up on moving day. Then a small truck and two men pulled up. I told them that I didn't think the truck was big enough to move my stuff and asked if other people would be coming to help them. They said that it was just the two of them. I told them that when I moved the last time, there was a team of six guys. It took them all day and in the end there wasn't enough room on the truck for 3 planters, my vacuum cleaner and the two table leaves for my formal dining table. I had to arrange to store these items with a neighbor and will be driving back to Philadelphia to get them. The two guys did the best they could, and I felt sorry that their company had sent only two people for what was obviously a much bigger job.

All-in-all it was the worst, most unprofessional move I have experienced, and as you all know, I've moved a lot over the last four years. So...they have my money (paid via money order) and they made an already stressful time even more stressful...but I have a blog and lots of friends. And friends don't let friends move with World Moving Services.
