Total Scam
So I read the reviews before I picked this
company and they were mostly bad but i went
with the company anyway because they sounded
cheap and were so nice on the phone. DONT DO
IT. It was one of the worst experiences of my
life. We were moving from Utah to Florida for
medical school. Were were given the estimate of
1,200 for our tiny one bedroom apartment.
Thought that was pretty good and they said they
over estimated so it may not even be that much.
Were were told the move would take one week and
i was skeptical because it was across the
country but they kept saying one week from the
time of pick up. We were told the truck would
be there between 8am and 10am. I called many
times and they kept saying the same time. So we
booked our flights to Florida for 5pm thinking
that would be safe even if they were a little
late. They came at 6pm and we missed our
flights!!!! Then we got to Florida quickly to
meet our truck because they kept saying one
week. THEY HAD OUR THINGS FOR TWENTY
DAYS......20 DAYS. The contract does say it
could be up to twenty days so i feel like they
kept it and took their time cause they were
under contract. It was a coincidence that on
the twentieth day they decide to show up. Also
they said we had more boxes then we said and
wanted to charge us an extra 2,000 for the
space. Even though the company says its not
about the space it's the weight. ??
Then they show op on the TWENTIETH day and say
they can't make it into the apartment complex
with their truck. They didn't even try. So we
had to go get a Uhaul and move all of our
things our self and pay them $2,000 for doing
it ourselves. Then we are asked to sign a form
saying nothing is broken. WHAT?? how do we know
what is inside all those boxes. The moving guy
hands us the contact in his underwear. He
wasn't even wearing any clothes at the time. He
was also very disrespectful when speaking with
me. My husband was the most upset about that.
So we hauled all of our things 100 feet into
our apartment with my six month old strapped to
my chest and began unpacking. Every box had
something broken in it. We had to stay in a
hotel for the twenty days they had our things
with a six month old, no crib, nothing, plus
pay for our own Uhaul and move our stuff
ourselves. DONT DO IT. It was such a bad
experience. ELI was our driver, LESLIE did the
estimate and JOE was the boss I talked to who
wouldn't help us out or work with us at all!!!!
I called all the time and they would just say
it's summer and we are busy.

Lots of BROKEN/DAMAGED stuff, late delivery, & it gets worse
Several expensive and priceless pieces damaged and/or broken, job incomplete because they lost lots of the assembly pieces to my furniture and entertainment pieces. Not to mention they came with no tools whatsoever and I had to dig through several boxes to find them some. They showed up a day late at 9 pm and made my new neighbors angry and yelling out their windows because they left their truck running which was very noisy, then they blew an air tank in front of my new home, which made a very large explosion setting off car alarms and waking up the entire street at 11:30pm on a week night. They also left a nice hole in the pavement where it blew right in front of my house.
I hired experienced movers and they showed up with pay by the day laborers who couldnt speak/read English and they did most of the work. They were dropping my fragile boxes onto the dolly without any regard for the words FRAGILE, (even though I have since learned that Fragile is the same in Spanish and English, so they just werent even paying attention to that). They rolled the fragile boxes in upside down (every single one of them) with heavy large boxes on top of them. All of the boxes, especially the ones marked fragile top load only where damaged, ripped, squashed and a few had some oily substance all over them. I still am not sure what it is.
A short list of some of the damaged/broken items are: A mirrored headboard cracked all the way down, several places on my 5 piece wood bedroom set ($6,000) that have severe scratches on the wood, in two places complete chunks of the carved wood is missing, holes in the back of my dressers. The recess lighting on my entertainment center is broken and will be hard to replace. My Kirby vacuum cleaner has sever deep scratches on it, the wheel is also much damaged. Kirbys are not cheap either. An old grandfather clock that has been in my family for years is completely broken into several pieces. One of my oak tables has very large chunks of wood missing on it. Several broken pictures, vases, wine glasses etc. I havent even opened all the boxes yet and I am very afraid to see what I will find next.
They lost decorative pieces to my entertainment center and bedroom furniture such as knobs, ornamental fixtures etc. They lost the bolts and screws to assemble the mirror to the dresser, but told me that if I BUY them they would return the next day to assemble it, along with many other pieces they did not finish. This made me very angry, but I agreed to buy the new hardware for assembly. However they failed to return, even after numerous phone calls with both the Driver Nick, as well as the Supervisor Joe, both stating several times they would be back. They kept me waiting for two days, even though I asked them to just tell me the truth if they had no intention of returning, please do not keep me waiting. Time after time they claimed they would return. They even went so far as to tell my husband when he called to inquire when they were coming, that they had me on the other line making arrangements when that was a bold face lie.
Another bold face lie that both the driver Nick and then the supervisor Joe tried to tell me is that my stuff was never taken off the original truck, when I know for a fact that the trailer they showed up in was not the same one they loaded. It had a different license plate, not to mention that the first one was a Penske truck and the one they showed up in was a New Planet truck. Both Nick and Joe when confronted with this fact, then back-peddled by saying they misunderstood my question. Again, they hired pay by day laborers to unload and reload my belongings in the truck, which is where I suspect all this damage occurred. I paid for professionals, I could have hired my own laborers for much cheaper but I expected to get professional service by paying top price for this move. I am very sorely disappointed and very devastated by the condition of my cherished belongings.
Overall, this has been the absolute worst experience I have ever had with any company and it has made an already very stressful move across country ten times worse. Furthermore, I do not believe that all their positive feedback is legit; I think it is phony, because how could it be this bad just for me? Even if I am the one that ended up with the short end of the deal, it will happen to someone else. Dont let it be you.
These people are liars, and very rude when you have a problem. I could of understood a couple of items having damage, but there is so much that it is obvious that my belongings were treated like trash. Now they just keep saying put it through their claims department, which will pay .60 per pound (if they accept the claim, which I have very little faith they will honor that either) but still that is nowhere near replacement cost for most of everything that is damaged. I will obviously be putting a claim in to my home owners policy and hopefully they will pursue the matter further. I will also be taking this company to court to try to retrieve some of my money for services promised and not delivered.
Dont end up like me, steer clear of this company!!

We had to Pay $150 more!
We had to move around start of August 2009 from Houston, TX to Orange County, CA. We hired a moving company called American Knight from Houston. They did a splendid job. Movers showed up on time, packed everything efficiently and they were done in an hour or so (It's only a 1 bed apt. and there wasn't too many furniture). Anyways, so far so good. Unfortunately they subcontracted moving to another firm called New Planet Moving (http://newplanetmoving.com).
They showed up in Orange County, CA around middle of Aug. (this was deliberate since we were in Hawaii at the start of Aug.). Truck driver called us one Sunday evening saying they will be at our dropoff location, which is a storage facility close to our residence, at around 5:00 pm. they showed up at around 9:00pm! No problem that's fine.
The truck driver was extremely rude. He began his conversation by saying "Have you seen my 18 wheeler, can it go inside your storage facility?". We were sure that it could since there was plenty of space in front and we offered him to open the exit door to facilitate his manouvering but he got really upset saying he knows what he's doing and the truck won't fit inside the storage so we have to pay extra. Then he asked me to show him exact storage area. I took him there, from there he started counting feet by foot spaces all the while shaking his head in disbelief and asking us why would we would get a space so far in? From the start he seemed like he didn't want to finish his job. I said I'll give him and his helper gratuity but he remained very upset. Eventually he called somebody and after talking with him said we'll have to pay $200 more to him. We were shocked! Anyways we settled on $150 additional. So we had to run to the ATM to get some cash as they won't take anything else. Once we handed over the cash they pulled their truck inside the storage and started moving but they were very rude and unprofessional. They were manhandling out boxes and all the while saying you guys have too much stuff.
All in all it wasn't a good experience. We don't want any compensation or anything. We just felt like we were cheated and thought we should share this for other people who might be hiring this company for moving.
Thank you.
Sayem.

I moved from Atlanta GA to Las Vegas back in 95' and I took a uhaul on my own it was tough but I did it. After 5 years in NV i had decided to go back to GA cause my father got sick. I called just about every moving company and the person that explained everything from start to end was at new planet moving. So i called them out to do an estimate and tehey did move me at that rate, on time and the gys were great. Just revently I have moved back to Vegas and I of course called them, they gave me the exact same rate in /july that they had given me in the dead winter, these guys are really awesome, and i admit i was asked to write a review, but its been my pleasure good luck

Terrible
I would never recommend both ABS Moving or New Planet Moving companies. December 21st the movers came, and I had told them about my quote estimate and how I had less items to now ship. They said it would not be a problem and I would be reimbursed for the difference. I had to fax my credit card number, social security number, and a written signature to them stating it was alright for them to use my charge card before my stuff was even picked up for the move. On the day of the 28th, I called and asked when to expect the movers. A man named Moses told me that they did not charge my card and that I now had to pay a higher amount and in cash on arrival, yet they still had ALL of my information and I was not going to be reimbursed at all. My stuff was promised between the 26th and 28th of December. It is now January 8th and instead of my items being here, everyday I have had to call and ask when the arrival date would be, yet they just say we will be there in the morning of the next day. This has been going on for a weeks time, with different excuses stating they could not drive on the Holy Day, that there was a mix up of trucks, or that the weather was too much. They also took extra items that I had specifically asked them to not touch, probably in the hopes of getting more money out of me. THESE WEBSITES ARE SCAMS. PLEASE CHOOSE YOUR MOVING COMPANY WISELY!!!!

Bad bad company
Based on my opinion and experience with New Planet Moving, I would advise everyone to stay away!!! They were absolutely the worst moving company I have ever dealt with. The sent an undersized truck for the move, and it took them to bring another truck several days later than contracted to get all of our stuff in it. Then over a dozen big ticket items, including antiques and furniture items came damaged. Some items did not include promised furniture wraps. Boxes clearly marked fragile, were piled at the bottom of heaps of boxes with books in them and everything.
After 7 months of haggling with them, and thier claims processing department, they denied my claim because I beleive New Planet falsified documents to the claims processing about my move. I submitted a letter and pictures to the moving company (burned on a cd, and CD labeled by me because I did not have a printer hooked up yet), and the same letter to the claims processing department (several months later, so I printed it out on my computer). However, the moving company submitted a CD to the claims processing department that did not have any labelng on it (hmmm... could it be a different CD??) with a letter (not signed by me), that was different than the letter I sent to the claims processing department (a highly suspect company in NY, that I am not totally convinced is a big scam...maybe relatives in NY??). After 7 months of jumping through hoops, a lady from the Claims processing department calls me up and accuses me of fraud for changing the letter, and denies the entire claim. She states I added some furniture items to the letter not in the original, yet the furniture items in question are on the inventory list from the day of moving as being damaged, so I asked her why on earth would I not include them in the original letter?? She tells me that I don't know why people commit fraud. I stated everything in the letter is 100% ture. She tells me if I pursue this even further, she will report me to some company that will effect my ability to get home owners insurance, car insurance and everything. I feel extremely bullied, and don't know what to do anymore. I have done nothing wrong. I don't even know if this claims processing department in Staten Island is even a real company.

The worst
The worst company & move I have ever had. If you go with this company make sure you have your items weighed before calling them, so you wont be paying more. All I had was a bed, 2 tvs & stands, a sofa, 15 boxes and 2 book shelves (which they damaged). Make sure you pay for on-time delivery even if Tom tells you, you do not need it because the New Planet can promise the next day delivery.I had several items damaged during my move and the manager "Joe" refused to talk to me and sent me to a claims department on the east coast, I live on the west coast. The moving company did not give me all the paperwork needed to file a claim and now they refuse to answer my e-mails and phone calls. Now I have to file a complaint to the American Moving and Storage Association.
