Very GOOD!
BOY O BOY! I was moving from Skokie to downtown Chicago and I had ALOT of stuff... I though I wouldn't need a moving company and could do it all by myself. Man was I wrong. I had 1 day left until I had to leave my apartment so I called my buddy who had recently moved. He told me to call Olympic. He said they were fast, affordable, and professional. For a Chicago moving company they were amazing! They came on time, they gave me free boxes, and they helped me with everything! NOTHING WAS DAMAGED EVEN!!!! The lady whom I spoke to was so nice, and couldn't have made me feel any less stressed out. I believe her name was Adi ... anyways I would recommend Olympic moving and storage to EVERYONE!!!!! Easy 5 out of 5!

What a Great Move
It’s such a relief I found Olympic movers in time for my move. God Olympic is a life saver! I had a last minute move from Michigan to Skokie. I called 2 days before my move, and they luckily were available. I have moved 2 times in the past, and these movers were the best moving company i have ever used. I would recommend Olympic movers to anyone inside or outside of Chicago!

Quick and painless
Olympic Moving & Storage Chicago is my favorite company. We had to move out of our apartment with a last minute notice and had to move in a hurry. They came through as they promise. They showed up on time, and moved all of our stuff across town in record time. They took care to wrap everything carefully, whistled while they worked, and managed to move everything in less than three hours. Another company moved the same stuff five months ago, without dealing with a tiny elevator, and took five hours. I have vowed that I would rather burn all of my furniture than move again. But if I do (move, that is) I will definitely hire this company again!!

Pure Fraud
Olympia Moving and Storage
4901 Main st
Skokie, IL 60077
847-679-4338
While poor the customer service is unacceptable, the wholesale fraud committed by them is simply criminal. Please see specific issues below:
1. A small move of only 3 items, and one of them ends up broken. A simple request to look in the truck and return the part was made, and a rude and impersonall response was given. 5 minutes and courtesy is all that's required, but they lack even that.
2. Expect to pay >70% over the estimate. Mileage was miscalculated as they added 400 miles for the trip of the items to their central chicago facility (not listed in the contract that you would pay for your items to go sight-seeing).
3. Movers arrived 4 days late to pick up items.
4. Given less than 24 hrs notice for receipt of items (then threatened that they're on their way, and if I don't take them they'll charge for the storage).
5. No modified invoice sent before delivery despite multiple requests.
6. Items delivered after 9:30PM on a weekday!
7. Charged $280 for packing (supposed to be free, but consisted of a few boxes wrapped around items). More importantly, the 60" TV screen had only a single non-sturdy layer covering it.
Fraud:
1. This is the primary issue as the weight was off by greater than 800 lbs (>33% of the original weight). Items were weighed during original move in a small U haul truck 8 months ago, and were much less than this. Cause of weight undetermined. each item was reweighed by me on a scale after arrival, and the 800 lb discrepancy persists! Additionally, movers were given free items (piles of old clothing, a 200lb oak table) if they wanted to take them home/sell them/etc. They kept the items given them , but included the weight in the total for the delivery cost to me. I'm not sure why I'm paying to move nice free items given to them.

IF YOU VALUE YOUR MONEY,TIME, BELONGINGS
I always say there's a sucker born every minute. Well I have finally been suckered. This is the worst company imaginable. Please read all the reviews I wish I had. They picked up my furniture on June 13th 09 and it still hasn't arrived after I was promised the date of 6/19. They told me they had 10 days after the promise date. Then after the 10 days they said they meant to say 10 business days. The movers lie when they get there and you if you don't speak spanish watch out. I was quoted 875.00 and then add ons began after the movers arrived charging for tape, bubble wrap, and plastic wrap and oh don't forget the 25.00 boxes. This was the biggest bait and switch I have ever seen. After they were done packing the truck they said I was 840 lbs over because they could tell by looking at the amount in the truck. I told them I wanted the weight ticket . I was told to call the office on Monday. It's funny they are convieniently closed on Sat. when most people do the moves. If anyone wants to contact me for a class action law suit I am with you. lilsher082@yahoo.com something has to be done about this company. I really can't say what the out come will be. They are late now I just hope they will arrive soon with minimal breakage. After reading all the negative reviews I have learned that everything needs to be checked out. Please Please I beg of you don't be sucked in by the nice customer service. You won't hear from them again after your furniture is picked up. They will tell you whatever you want to hear just to get the business. Then they won't answer the phone afterwards. I'm sure they have caller ID and they probably get comission. All those positive reviews are fake. Maybe they are local and just going a few miles down the road for a same day move. I have been told over and over that my furniture hasn't even left Chicago because they have to wait on a truck going south. Ahhh. I can just scream for being taken in like this.

Theives and poor handling
Worst ever experience. Movers came in and took 5hrs, and at the end, they said its gonna weigh more than estimated and would cost 3200USD. And to my surprise the cat scale weigh tickets showed a weight that translated to the EXACT 3200USD that they estimated on the move day. I did some research and found that the two weighing tickets were 10mins apart. I called their office and had to talk to manager with this proof and they went for re-weighing and got it down to 1900USD. If I just believed, I wud have been at a loss of 1300USD. Wehn items came in, two of the items were missing and my entertainment center was broken and some kitchen items too. I feel they are cheaters.

Olympic Moving & Storage rip off - dont use them
What a horrible company. I watched my night stand fall off of the truck. I watched a floor lamp get drenched in rain. I fed the packers lunch and dinner. Once items delivered, the driver would not stay around while unpacking to verify items. He essentially threw items off of the truck. I paid for set up of my beds and other furniture, the driver said no. I had to pay someone else to do all of the set up and to put furniture back together (ie. coffee tables, dining room table.). As I am going the items after the driver rudely left I noticed an item that did not belong to me. This was someones very personal information - applications to med school. All of her addresses, ID's. What an unfortunate opportunity for ID theft on the part of Olympic. When I called the company I had to wait for someone to come pick up the plastic container and was told that I had to repackage it because it wasn't shippable. When I found out that some of my items were missing I was told they couldn't be verified that I actually had the items because the number of china bowl wasn't listed, the box was just listed as china - did I really have 15 bowls? Also, I have 4 sofa table legs - no top. They said, did I really have a sofa table. My response - no I just bought the legs. Numerous items were damaged. The company offered me $200. The sofa table itself was worth more that $200.00. They also wanted me to have their offer notarized and said that both my husband and I must sign. My husband was in a different state. I would have had to pay to have my signature. notarized and then mail to my husband for him to pay and have his signature notarized. What a joke. Oh, also upon delivery, the payment had to be by postal money orders which I had to pay for. I guess the driver wouldn't have to claim this as income on his taxes! Please do your homework before going with any moving company - especially -OLYMPIC MOVING & STORAGE.

Olympic completely low-balled me to get my business
My belongings were picked up yesterday, so my move is not complete yet, but I am so unhappy that I feel compelled to begin this review immediately.
The movers were 3 hours late and didn't call to tell me they were coming until the arrival window was an hour gone.
I don't think anyone on the team had a good grasp of English. Getting my questions answered was difficult - the guy in charge, Miguel, just read me the papers in front of me to attempt to answer my questions.
They GROSSLY underestimated the amount of space I would need on the truck. I really don't understand how it happened, either, because I gave them measurements of everything when I was arranging the move.
I'm just terrified now that I'll either never see my things again, or that I'll shovel out another several thousand dollars before they release them at the destination.
[12/4/08]
So today I found out that not only am I being charged $50 for storage on days before my delivery date, my stuff also has not left Chicago! I don't understand why I'm being charged to store things in Chicago when there's no chance my things will arrive before my first available delivery date on December 10th.
Also, Olympic has no idea when the truck will leave Chicago. It won't leave until it's full, apparently. Who knows when that might be!
[12/8/08]
It's a miracle! My stuff has left Chicago today! I had to ask their shipping representative about not paying for storage on Tuesday since my stuff left Monday, and she had to go through an approval with her manager over this. I'm surprised it isn't default protocol to automatically not charge the customer for storage that didn't occur.
[12/13/08]
I got a call at 9:30am from the truck driver with NBA, the company Olympic outsourced the moving to, saying the truck would arrive between 12:00 and 1:00.
Here's the only thing about this move that has gone well: it only took 5 days for my stuff to arrive after its ship date, and they delivered on a weekend. I have a feeling the weekend delivery is merely coincidence, though. Still, this was nice.
Now here's the bad part: Olympic picked up in a small truck, but they hand your stuff off to some company you won't know anything about (and thus won't be able to research) who delivers using an 18-wheeler.
I had to find $550 in CASH *AND* find a 26' rental truck with an hour's notice or else these guys weren't going to deliver my stuff. My bank doesn't exist here in WA, and finding a rental with an hour's notice in an unfamiliar town is a hell I don't hope to go through again.
The $550 is apparently for the extra step of having to load the 26' truck and drive it 300 feet to my apartment. I also paid for the rental.
[12/14/08]
Got some broken stuff, the worst of which is a wheel they broke off my computer chair and a completely smashed CD shelving unit.
I'm told they do reimbursements, so once I'm done pursing that I'll update this review again.
Most of my stuff seems to have survived fairly well, though I haven't tried most of my electronics (tv, computer) yet. The packing they did on the TV was nice, but I wish the same care had been given to other stuff that got broken (chair, cd rack).
[In Conclusion]
I think Olympic is misleading by picking up with a small truck, since your shipment is then transferred to someone with an 18 wheeler who won't even try to get his truck into your driveway.
The price went from $2752 (initial quote) to a whopping $4868 final cost. That is a $2116 difference. I understand a quote is just a quote, but I still find that completely outrageous, even in a business known for scams.
Olympic completely low-balled me to get my business and then jacked up the cost.
Here's what I paid:
* $2100.00 upfront (at pickup)
* $2128.36 at delivery
* $550.00 SURPRISE!!! for them simply having to use the shuttle (26' truck)
* $90 for shuttle rental
Grand total:
* $4868
I know the moving industry is full of scams, but don't bet your personal belongings and your wallet on Olympic Moving and Storage.

Olympic Moving & Storage
Mover reviewed by Allysa on 11/14/08
I moved to San Francisco a year ago and have had many problems with Olympic! They quoted me a price and after loading everything on the truck the price significantly increased and they wanted all the money at that time. They delivered my things by another third party company and when I unpacked many of my things were broken! A stainless steele colander was turned inside out! Completely blatant that they kicked things around. It took me a year to get the adjusters to finally send the papers tyo settle my claim of which they were only going to give me $102 for all my damages stating that I didn't unpack everything in front of the movers so I couldn't prove it wasn't already broken! What a joke! Worst of all I finally receive a check a few weeks ago for $102 and I had to get it notarized which cost me $10 and then the check bounced and my bank charged me $19 so I am out even more money than before! Unbelievable!! I hope worse things for that company and the people associated with them than just bankrupcy!!!!!!
Awful, Awful company

Olympic Moving and Storage is a joke. When they finally arrived with our stuff, over a week late, many things were broken or lost. Not only that, but another company actually brought our stuff. Totally shady company that will give you the run-around on the telephone. We were sub-contracted out to this company (probably the only way they stay in business). Be wary of movers that sub-contract. I hope, nay pray, this company goes bankrupt soon.
SO AWFUL. Should be investigated by the attourney general.
Mover reviewed by Nicole B. on 09/16/08
I concur with all the statements above. we hired them for a cross country move, it was the worst experience of my life. honestly. my belongings were a month late (yes, that's right, i slept on a floor for a month, had no kitchen supplies, and wore the same three outfits), about 3/4 of my things were damaged and broken, and they attempted to charge me double after the fact. I went through visa and was only refunded the extra money after visa investigated and threatened legal action. the movers are dirty, rude and speak no english. they break everything and make a mess. stay far away from this business.
SERVICE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!
Mover reviewed by Angelica on 07/23/08
Stay away from this moving company or should I say thief. They quoted me one thing but when they loaded my items they called me back with a different price that exceeded twice as much. They are liars and to make it worst customer service sucks they never answer the phone or return your phone calls. Please stay away from this moving company, they are rip offs all they want is your money once they have your stuff they will not deliver until you pay what they want!
Stay Away!
Mover reviewed by Kim on 07/08/08
This company packed part of my items in one truck. They then took two days to come back and get the remaining items. They left trash in my hard and their moving materials in my home. They called me two days later and said my things were overweight and had no idea when they would be delivered. No one is returning my calls and I am still waiting for my things. Stay away from this place.
I'd pay them to stay away!
Mover reviewed by Melissa Tan on 06/04/08
This moving company made my move a nightmare! They added costs at the last minute, and the final quote exceeded the original by more than $1K! The movers weren't that gentle with the furniture, and to add insult to injury, the 3 movers all used my toilet and left streak marks AFTER my toilet brush had already been moved. Maybe a small thing, but it summarizes my feelings about the move. I would have paid this moving company to leave me alone.
Horrible
Mover reviewed by Courtney on 10/30/07

Olympic Moving = Poor service at best
Mover reviewed by Jackie C. on 09/25/07
Quoted low and added costs AT LAST MINUTE - boxes crushed, movers with poor English skills.
Poor pricing bait and switch
Mover reviewed by Kathy M. on 08/13/07
They quote low prices and promise the world but add numerous last minute charges. Delivery time is a range of 14 days without notice. Furniture delivered damaged. Many problems with actual delivery. I would have been better using a major moving company instead of a broker. Olympic was a problem form start to finish. Be very careful with added charges.

1.I did an online search to find a mover to relocate my family from Detroit, MI to Atlanta, GA. I got a lot of responses but received a call from Mike (last name omitted on all documentation) at Eagle van lines on December 5, 2007. He asked me to dictate an inventory list of everything in the house and gave me a quote of $2022.00 for 5466 lbs (911 cf.). He emailed it as well. (See Document #1).
2.On December 26, 2007 I contacted him again and made corrections to the inventory list, eliminating some items to bring the price down. I was given a second quote of $1614 for 3936 lbs (656 cf.) and asked to fax a signature and pay a deposit of $322 to secure a non-binding contract (see Doc. #2). We agreed to have our things picked up on Thursday January 3.
3.Olympic Movers showed up at my house on January 3, 2008 at 1:07 p.m. It was never explained to me that Eagle Van Lines would act as a broker. I expected Eagle movers to actually move my things. I continued the move as planned because they had all of my things listed and the quote was the same(See Doc. #3).
4.Next the movers told me we would be charged an extra charge of $180 for packaging supplies. This was never discussed with Mike at Eagle Van lines. We went to the store and bought $50 worth of additional packaging supplies to avoid the extra charges. The movers used the packaging supplies I bought and still charged us the additional $180.
5.I was asked to sign the Olympic Moving and Storage contract as they were leaving with our furniture. We paid the movers $646, half of the total original price as agreed.
6.We arrived in Atlanta, GA on Saturday January 5, 2008. We called Mike of Eagle Van Lines on Monday January 7, 2008 several times and never received an answer or response. I left messages regarding my customer service concerns to no avail.
7.I called Olympic Moving & Storage on Monday January 7, 2008 because their offices were closed on Saturday when I expected our delivery. I called several times before getting an answer. I finally spoke to a customer service representative who informed me that our belongings weighed more than the specified amount on the contract. She told me that she needed to speak to her manager to go over our file and that she would call us back the next day between 2-5 p.m. We never heard from her.
8.On Tuesday January 8, 2008 I called her back and she told me again that she needed to talk to her manager and they would call us back by 2:00 p.m. We never heard from them again so we called them at 3:12 p.m. This time we spoke to Susan Larkin who informed us that the weight of our belongings was over the agreed amount and that we would be charged an additional $1000. When we objected she said she would talk to her manager and would call us back. She didn't call back.
9.On the same day Tuesday January 8, 2008 we contacted the AMSA (American Moving and Storage Association). We spoke to Denise Douglas the AMSA litigator. We explained the situation listed above in detail. We also told her that both of these companies were listed on the AMSA Certified Movers list and that our things were being held hostage and the price increased. She explained the rules of moving contracts and told us they should be offering to meet us at a weight station before and after our things were moved to prove the increased weight. She also gave us the name of a Federal Contact James Dubose, and told us to call him and say she recommended us.
After calling him he told us if we filed a formal complaint he would contact the company to hear both sides of the story. We were afraid of scarring them off and never seeing our things again so we waited to pursue it further.
10.We called Olympic again that afternoon on Tuesday January 8, 2008. We agreed to pay the additional money and asked for a delivery date. Susan Larkin offered to have the driver meet us at a weigh station to re-weight our things and prove the discrepancy. She said that we needed to sign the re-weight request and confirm the new balance (See Doc. #4). We also had to specify which weigh station we would go to when meeting the driver. She also requested an immediate credit card payment of $700 the new half of the new balance. She then told us they had up to 10 additional days to deliver our things.
11.We called every day from January 9th January 11th to find out when our things would arrive. We were told as soon as they specified a driver it would be loaded in Illinois. On Friday January 11th we were told that it should leave Illinois on Sunday January 13th and should arrive no later than Tuesday January 15th. On Tuesday we called again to verify a delivery date and we were told that we misunderstood and that the furniture would be loaded the next day Wednesday January 16th and should arrive on Thursday evening or Friday Morning.
12.From January 3, 2008 to Friday January 18th my family was gravely inconvenienced by the delay o this move. We had to sleep on the floor, including my father who is a dialysis patient. We had very little clothing and no access to television or radio.
13.On Friday January 18th at 10:00 a.m. the driver called and informed us that he was two hours away. He said hw would call us when he was an hour away so we could meet him. He called at 1:30 and informed us that he was at the house. We met him at the house around 1:45. He began surveying the house for delivery of the furniture. We informed him that we were supposed to go to the weigh station first. He said he didn't know anything about going to a weight station. He agreed to follow us to the weight station. When we told him what weight station had been agreed upon he objected. He said he didn't want to go to the one we chose because there were police there.
14. We complied and went to a different weigh station attached to a gas station (See Doc. #5). The truck weighed 22320 lbs.
15.Next we went to the house. The driver told us we must pay the balance in full before he would unload the truck. We objected and demanded to see our things first before paying. He opened the truck and let us see that it was indeed our belongings.
16.When we signed over the money orders for $1784.80 he said he could not accept it because it was a bank money order instead of a Postal money order. When we objected he called his boss and said he would have to leave to go to his next move if we didn't have a postal money order. When he acted as if he couldn't wait for us to switch money orders we called Cobb County police for assistance and call Susan Larkin at Olympic.
17.Susan yelled and said her email specifically said Postal Money Order and that they would not accept any other kind. When we told her we were calling the police she objected and told us to hold on while she spoke with her boss.
18.Cobb County Police arrived. Some of us stayed and explained the situation while the rest left to switch the money order. The police asked questions of the drivers, documented the identification information on the truck and asked them to wait until we switched the money orders.
19.The drivers waited. We gave them a postal money order totaling: $1784. 80. They unloaded the truck. All of our things were accounted for. One television was damaged and not working. We wrote this under comments on the paperwork and were told that it didn't matter (Doc #6). A formal complaint would need to be filed.
20.Next we followed him to the weigh station again. The truck weighed 18360 lbs with our things taken off (Doc. #7). The mover asked us what was the original weight. We told him 3936. He said our total weight was 3980a 44lb difference. He called his manager and told him what the weight was. The manager told him he would fax some paperwork for us to fill out to the weigh station so we could get a refund. We were asked to pay $3.00 for the fax (see Doc. #8). The paperwork arrived and said the refund would be $1238.20 (Doc. #9). It also stated that we agreed to this amount and would not pursue this further. We refused to sign it because the refund was incorrect and we planned on pursuing it further.
21.Susan Larkin called several times on Monday January 21, 2008. She left one message saying she was confused as to why we didn't sign the documents or accept the refund.
We would like to file formal complaints against Olympic Moving & Storage as well as Eagle Van lines who acted as a broker for this company. We would like to be refunded the total amount owed to us. We would also like to see action taken against this company to avoid other consumers being victimized by them. After the fact I found out there are many complaints against this same company listed on MovingScams.com many whose experiences were worst than ours.
