Scammers - DON'T USE

Just as many others have stated -- they never showed and kept my $320 deposit. They claimed they didn't have my correct phone number (even though all of the paperwork stated my cell), so never sent the driver. But didn't notify me until the day I was supposed to move.

It sounds like it's a husband/wife team (Angela and Pete) who basically make their money on keeping peoples' deposits. The company I ended up going with after Get A Moving Company failed me informed me that 10% of their business is just from swooping in and rescuing people who are screwed over by Get a Moving Company.

I can't say enough bad things about them.

Money owed to us

On October 30, 2008 we contracted with GetAMoving Company in Pompano Beach, Florida to move our Daughters belongings from Carson City, Nevada to Mesquite, New Mexico. They answered our calls and were very nice, so we went ahead with their company to set the move up. They faxed the contract to us and before they would set it up they needed a down payment (understandable) so we had to give them the information on our checking account for them to get the down payment. They had a company named C & S Transportation from California do the actual moving. When the truck got here the belongings that we had contracted for were considerably over-weight. That was our fault (we were going be what our Daughter said was on the truck). C & S Trans. told us that the move was going to cost about double what we had originally contracted for and we would have to pay the difference before they would deliver the belongings. We gave them our credit card number since we did owe that much more. The gentelman, Peter, that my husband spoke to from C & S said that the total amount that would be on the card was the total for everything. My husband asked him if that also included the increased fee for Get A Moving Company which would be owed $187.60 for the overweight fee. He assured my husband that that was also included on the total amount of the bill. It is even written on the agreement with C & S that it is Fully Paid With Credit Card. The actual move was done on November 5, 2008. Everything was paid in full. When I went to reconcile our checking account in November it showed that Get A Moving Company, on the 10th of November, took another $187.60 from our account without our knowledge or permission. The company that they had contracted had their fee. We contacted Get A Moving and they said they would return it but that it wouldn't be for 90 days. (I don't know why 90 days) but we went along with it. Well, it has been well over 90 days and we still haven't gotten th money back. We have called and e-mailed several times. No one seems to ever be there that can help us. It is strange that every time we call - no matter what time of day - we are told that there is no one there to talk to us but we can leave a number and someone will call us back. NOT!!! They were more than happy to call us when we were thinking about using their services but no that they owe us money no one will call or e-mail us back. On the 26th of February, 2009 I called again and the man that answered said that he was just one of the salesmen but that he believed in doing the right thing and that he personally would make sure that the money was refunded the next week and that it would be a money order. You guessed it, no money!!! Now they don't even answer the phone at all, just a machine comes on. I have a feeling that they are there but they have caller ID and are ignoring our calls.

Its not that we are asking for a million dollars - just the money they took out of our account without our permission since we had already paid that fee to the company they contracted.

Give them money to do a job, they don't show up or give your

Get A Moving Company; that is the name of a moving company you do not use!! My soon to be wife moved from Minnesota to Maine to where my military station is. She paid the deposit, 10% of total cost as they required. However when it was time to move they never showed up!! after five days this company saying they would be out there latter that day, or first thing tommorow they just stopped taking her calls. She had to rent U-hual and move her self. Now they still won't respond to us or take our calls and they STILL OWE US OUR MONEY BACK!! They did no services what so ever and will not even talk to us let alone give us our money back!!

MISREPRESENTED, LIED, UNPROFESSIONAL

1. Get A Moving Company did not clearly state they were hiring another company to move my goods. They acted and spoke as if they were the company doing the moving, though they were not. They provided no information about the company they hired.

2. Get A Moving Company explained the deposit paid before the move to be for gas and fees for the moving truck, but in reality were their fees for hiring another company. This was a outright lie.

3. Get A Moving Company did not provide any documentation other than the contract I signed, discussing the estimate and deposit. FMSCA requires other documents to be provided.

4. Get A Moving Company was aware I was in a different state than the pickup and drop off of goods and discussed methods of payment, yet did not accept the method of payment discussed. I was blindsided by the moving company they hired and had no way to pay them 2000 miles away.

5. Get A Moving Company signed a contract with me for one price per pound, then signed a contract with the company they hired to charge me

a higher rate per pound.

6. Get A Moving Company is extremely unprofessional, hung up on me, and would not let me speak one full sentance on the phone when trying to discuss these lies and misrepresentations. I was yelled at for interrupting the guy after he interrupted me 4 times. When I asked why I should let him speak when he wouldn't let me, he even interrupted me then and yelled listen lady.... Ridiculous.

7. Get A Moving Company created a fake check, similar to the check I paid them a deposit with, and withdrew money from my checking account. I was completely unaware and never authorized such a fraudulent activity. This is ILLEGAL!

8. Get A Moving Company provided no weigh slips, never called to set up pick up or delivery dates and times, and has no voicemail system to leave a message. Their email only works sometimes, other times emails bounce back. When I asked the guy who answered the phone for his name he would not even tell me that.

Terrible

This company is terrible. I almost reserved a moving date with them due to their low estimate which was the cheapest by roughly $600.00 and thank god I researched them a little more online and found out that they have a moving board that they put moves on for any tom, dick or harry to pick up the moves from. I was very skeptical once I found this information out and would like to pass it on to anyone considering this company it is www.takeloads.com see for yourself

NEVER EVER TRUST OR USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

We contracted this company to move us from Ohio to Washington state last month and not only were we never picked up by them we have not yet recieved our deposit which we placed with them. They lie, cheat, and steal and tell you that the truck is on the way, the truck is overloaded, the driver sho0uld be calling you, then they dont answer the phone anymore. Word to the wise, when this company calls automatically take them off your list!!!

The worst of the worst

This is such a poor excuse for a company. They missed my pick-up window by several days while all along told me "the truck will be there" "the truck is running a little behind" that went on for days. I had to move with a different company because they kept giving me bullshit excuses until I could wait no longer. I want my deposit back and a simple apology for lying to me would also be nice. Beware of this company!!!! Their low quotes sound too good to be true and take it from me...They are too good to be true.

Horrible experience!!!

getamovingcompany.com left me stuck in Minnetonka, Minnesota and then refused to refund my deposit. I had to call them 20 times and never got a straight answer as to when my movers would arrive, finally 4 days past my pick-up day I had to reschedule with another moving company that was WAY more money but did a great job. getamovingcompany quoted me $1,200.00 for my move and even though I was told by several moving companies that the price was a joke I decided to book with them for financial reasons. What a huge mistake. Take my advice, the cheapest quote is definately not the best and in my case it was the worst decision. Find a better company and make sure to check them out. I wound up paying $3,500 for my move with a reputable company.

Bad company, they don't move you and keep your money

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I BOOKED A MOVE WITH THEM BACK IN AUGUST AND THEY NEVER PICKED ME UP, AND WILL NOT ANSWER MY PHONE CALLS. THEY WILL NOT REFUND MY DEPOSIT AND I HAVE HAD TO GET ANOTHER MOVING COMPANY TO MOVE ME. SHADY COMPANY AND I WOULD STEER CLEAR OF THEM IF I WERE YOU.

Did not do what it said it would

Get A Moving Company is a moving carrier broker. They promised that we would have a carrier on 5/27/08-5/29/08. As the days came closer, I was unable to get ahold of anyone at their phone number to get the actual date. Finally I got someone on the 27th who said it would be on the 29th.

Nobody showed up on the morning of 29th. I kept calling them all day, finally got someone at 5 who said that their carrier had welched out on them and that they would call me back at noon on the day after (1 day after my move window). When nobody called back at noon, and after trying to hire other movers (who were now no longer available), I ended up having to hire a U-Haul and move myself.

Get A Moving Company has failed to return any of my calls, answer my letters or e-mail since.

They not only cost me the deposit, but I think they owe me the difference between what they had promised for moving costs and what I ended up spending (about double), and whatever my labor is worth.

Get a Moving Company stole over $700 from me Pompano Beach F

My husband and I arranged to have Get a Moving Company move us from New York to Texas in August of 2006. We put down a deposit of approximately $700.

A few days before the scheduled move date we had not heard anything from them about what time the movers would show up. We called them over and over again for days and left several messages with no reply. Finally the night before the scheduled move date they answered the phone and told us they would call us back in the morning.

We tried calling them several times the next morning and they would not answer. Later that day they did pick up the phone and still gave us the run around, saying they would check on it and call us back. At that point we had to cancel the move because it was obvious that they had no intention of moving our stuff that day and my husband had job interviews scheduled for that week in Texas.

We had to hire a new moving company at the last minute to move us down there, which cost us almost twice as much as the price Get a Moving Company had quoted us. Get a Moving Company refused to give us our deposit back and ended up stealing more than $700 from us.

Get a Moving Company has horrible customer service when they can actually be bothered to pick up their phones, and they steal from people. Look them up on the Better Business Bureau's website and see just how many unsatisfied customers these people have.
