poor customer service and extortion
I hsve contacted the company in an effort to get my belongings that they have been trying to extort additional monies.
1. your failure to assist in resloving my delivery dispute with A Topps Movers, in their attempt or yours to EXTORT extra money in the amount of $3592.92(in which by the way, I assumed since th actual weigh ticket in my possession does not reflect 6220 lbs and is not my actual weigh, I believe someone calculated 107 items x .58 = 6220 lbs x .58= $3592.92) and now you have conveniently decided to extort $2500 by threatening to send my items to auction.
2. your failure to honor binding moving estimate.
3. your failure to notify that my move would be subcontracted out to another carrier.
It is my understanding that since we have a binding moving estimate the actual moving costs should not exceed the estimate of (a little more than) 1800 lbs. I have not recieved a final invoice and do not believe that I should not be extorted for an amount that would exceed the 10% estimation if I had no binding agreement.
They are horrible, are in need of immediate customer service training and to be ordered to cease immediate business. It disgraceful how they attempt to extort monies from individuals in this economy, the sad part about is my children did not have Christmas as a result of this non-sense, better yet no school clothes or school supplies because they are on the truck. Happy 2010!
Since I believe this is a fradulent attempt to extort additional monies, I have contacted the Better Business Bureau of California, where I am pleased to learn that my husband and I were not the only persons to have complained or been taking advantage of as this appears to be pretextual behavior by Budget Van Lines in which I plan to state in my complaint when I move forward in Small Claims courtYou can file a complaint with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
I am requesting that my original esitmate be honored and my personal belongings be delivered immediately. Please feel free to contact me at 617 312-4294 617 312-4294, 313 522-6931 313 522-6931 or 702 632-1307 702 632-1307. Please also note that I have left a message for Rami and Melissa but have not received a return call. Thank you for your prompt response to this matter, this is an attempt to resolve a dsipute and stop the threatening telephone calls from Jeff Bell.

late delivery and damaged furniture
Our furniture was picked up on Friday, July 24, 2009 in Vermont. Our delivery time was 2-14 business days. We did not receive our furniture until August 18, 2009.
Budget Van Lines did not respond to the phone messages that I left left them requesting help with the late delivery. I was unable to get a delivery date out of the assigned carrier, A-Topps Moving, that Budget retained. We had to purchase additional furniture so that we would not be without. When ATOPPS MOVING finally delivered our furniture, it was damaged. The deal with Budget Van Lines was that all furniture would be carefully wrapped. Furniture which had been wrapped when it went into the truck at pick-up location was not rewrapped when Atopps transferred it to another truck for transport to Florida and so the finish on the furniture was completely scraped off all over. They also broke our fine china. I've placed numerous calls to ATOPPS to begin arbitration process and they are very unresponsive. ATOPPS is associated with US MOVERS ASSOCIATION a company that is supposed to give you an arbitration form. They do not respond to voice mail messages left on their company phone. US Movers Association is not performing their job. I am in law school surrounded by attorneys, and my professors along with the legal clinic at my school is going to take on this case. NEVER USE ATOPPS MOVING. NEVER USE BUDGET VAN LINES. BUDGET VAN LINES contracts with other movers to take your furniture and then CLAIMS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE MOVE when you run into trouble. Even though they found the contractor for the move after promising you wonderful service.

BEWARE - DO NOT USE A-TOPP'S - HORRIBLE COMPANY, HORRIBLE PE
Be warned, if you are moving and require hired movers, do not use Budget Van Lines or A-Topp's Moving, aka Magic Moving, etc. (this company uses various aliases) because once these companies charge your credit card for various fees and deposits and pick up your stuff, YOU MAY NEVER SEE YOUR PROPERTY AGAIN.
I hired Budget Van Lines, a broker that schedules moves with A-Topp's, to move me from NY to LA during the first week of August. Budget Van Lines, A-Topp's and I scheduled a pick-up date and time. A-Topp's showed up two hours early, threw the stuff I had not finished packing into boxes and charged me extra for doing so, though I did not request this service, nor did I need it (had A-Topp's showed up during our predetermined, agreed upon pick-up time). Our written contract indicated that A-Topp's must make the delivery within 2-14 business days from the date of pick-up, which at the very latest, would mean I would receive my delivery by September 1.
At the time of pick-up, A-Topp's said I'd receive a call with an expected date for delivery (EDD) within a few days and that I should likely receive my delivery between Aug. 17th and 21st.
No one called.
I called A-Topp's four days later to ask for the EDD, A-Topp's assured me Id receive a call by Aug. 19.
No one called.
I called A-Topp's on the evening of Aug. 19 to ask for the EDD.
A-Topp's provided me with the EDD of Aug. 24-27; A-Topp's said I'd receive my delivery no later than Aug. 27, 2009 and a call by Aug. 22 with a specific date.
No one called.
I called A-Topp's on Aug. 23 for the EDD. A-Topp's said delivery would be 9-12:00pm on Aug. 26.
By 12pm Aug. 26, A-Topp's had not made the delivery and had not called.
I called A-Topp's at noon and was told you will not be receiving your delivery today. A-Topp's provided no further information. A-Topp's promised to call later on Aug. 26 with more information.
No one called.
I called A-Topp's at 6pm Aug. 26 and was transferred to dispatch, neither customer reception nor dispatch provided any information.
I reminded A-Topp's of the verbal guarantee of delivery (Aug. 27) and the deadline according to our written contract (Sept. 1).
During this conversation with the alleged owner/manager of A-Topp's, I was mocked, yelled at, yelled over, spoken to abusively and inappropriately, hung up on, and when I attempted to call back to resolve the EDD issue and find out any information regarding the security of my property, my call was intercepted, and I was hung up on again.
I called Budget Van Lines to report the delivery problem with A-Topp's on Aug. 27. I was told that the delivery truck was broken down in GA and that it would either be fixed and on its way or that A-Topp's would send another truck to retrieve the delivery and bring it to my home by Sept. 4. I sent a follow-up email on Sept. 2 when I still had not received a call from A-Topp's or Budget Van Lines confirming delivery.
When someone finally answered at A-Topp's on Sept. 4, A-Topp's said my delivery was towed back to NJ, no further information was provided.
Each and every contact I have made with either A-Topp's or Budget Van Lines since A-Topp's picked up my move has occurred because I called. No one at A-Topp's or Budget Van Lines initiated contact with me.
I called Budget Van Lines and A-Topp's daily from Sept. 4 and finally, on Sept. 10, I was told that my delivery should arrive on Sept. 13 - one month and one day after the original pick-up date.
I called A-Topp's early on the morning of Sept. 13 to find out when the truck would be arriving. A-Topp's told me it needed to make contact with the driver and would call me back in a few minutes. One hour later, I called A-Topp's back and was told the driver must be sleeping, he is not answering his phone. I will call you once I have heard from the driver." A-Topp's did not call me back. I called every hour on the hour until 10pm and no one at A-Topp's answered the phone.
On the morning of Sept. 14, I called A-Topp's to find out what had happened to the MIA driver and truck and was told that the truck would arrive at my home by 1pm, A-Topp's tracked the truck with GPS and found it to be 2 hours from my home, it was 11am.
At 1:45pm, when no one had called and no truck had shown up, I called A-Topp's. I was told by an operator the owner/manager was unavailable to speak with me and that the truck would not be delivering to my house. No reason was given, but A-Topp's promised me, yet again, that first thing tomorrow morning, I should receive my delivery.
At this point, one month and two days after Budget Van Lines scheduled A-Topp's to pick up my move, I have no reason to believe my property is secure or that I will ever receive it.
BOTTOM LINE: IF YOU BOOK A MOVE WITH BUDGET VAN LINES OR A-TOPP'S, YOU MAY NEVER SEE YOUR PROPERTY AGAIN.
OR, the following might happen. THIS HAPPENED TO ME. THIS IS REAL.
According to our written contract, A-Topp's was to deliver between 2-14 business days given the distance from NY to LA, 1447 miles. Pick-up occurred on Aug. 12, the latest possible date for delivery would be Sept. 1.
I was first promised delivery between Aug. 17-21st, no one called to confirm a time.
I initiated every contact with A-Topp's; no person ever called me, not when I was supposed to receive calls back, not when I was promised calls. Often, no one would answer the phone.
Eric and Jeff Bell were both extremely rude, abusive, hostile and inappropriate with me each time we spoke.
I was told specifically the delivery would occur on Aug. 26 between 9am-12pm. No one called and no one showed up.
I called and I spoke with Sandy, the receptionist, who can confirm that she told me delivery was scheduled to occur that morning, as had Eric Bell. It was at that time I was told no significant details, but that I would not be receiving my delivery that day.
I had to call back every day until finally, it was explained to me the truck had a mechanical problem. The truck was in GA, the mechanics were waiting for a part to fix the truck, or A-Topp's was going to send another truck, which at the time was in Minnesota, to retrieve the delivery from the broken truck and continue on to my home in New Orleans, LA.
At that time, I was told delivery would occur absolutely no later than Sept. 4. As Sept. 4 approached, and no one from A-Topp's called to confirm a time, I, again, had to call A-Topp's daily.
I finally received an answer, on Sept. 4, at which time I was told the truck carrying my delivery was towed back to NJ.
No person at A-Topp's could provide me with even an estimation of when the delivery would be scheduled to occur.
A-Topp's had not informed& me of any information regarding the whereabouts of the truck or what was occurring as far as attempting to fix or replace it, or that it had been towed back to NJ. I was never told that I should not be expecting my delivery because the truck carrying my property had been towed back to where it started. This information should have been relayed to me and was not.
I was told only what I had to call several times a day for several days to discover, from Sandy, a receptionist, not even from Jeff or Eric Bell (who I have been told are allegedly the owners/managers of the shady A-Topp's operation).
I called Budget Van Lines and A-Topp's daily from Sept. 4 and finally, on Sept. 10, I was told that my delivery would arrive on Sept. 13 - one month and one day after the original pick-up date, 13 days after the deadline according to our written contract.
I called A-Topp's early on the morning of Sept. 13 to find out when the truck would be arriving. A-Topp's told me it needed to make contact with the driver and would call me back in a few minutes.
One hour later, I called A-Topp's and was told the driver must be sleeping, he is not answering his phone. I will call you once I have heard from the driver. A-Topp's did not call me back.
No reason was given, but A-Topp's promised me, yet again, that first thing on the morning of Sept. 15, I would receive my delivery.
On Sept. 15, I received a call from the driver, who told me he would be at my house no later than 1pm. At 1pm, I called the driver, who told me that he would arrive no later than 2pm. At 2pm, I called the driver and was told he would arrive at 2:30pm.
At 2:30pm, which is not first thing in the morning (I had to miss yet another day of work), the driver pulled up with the truck in front of my home. He was accompanied by a woman who did not step out of the truck. According to our written contract, I paid for two movers to arrive at my home and unload the delivery.
I asked the driver to unload the truck and he refused. He said I would have to pay more money first before he would unload. I explained that I was in negotiations with Budget Van Lines and with A-Topp's and that I would not be making another payment until I safely received my property in my home and had come to a resolution with the companies.
The driver got back into his truck, and turned on the truck, threatening to leave.
At this time, I was calling A-Topp's and Budget Van Lines to confirm with the driver that I am in negotiations with the companies and that he should still unload the truck.
I asked the driver to turn the truck off, so I could hear his boss speaking to me, he refused. I asked the driver to step out of the truck, he refused.
While I was standing in front of the truck, on the phone with Budget Van Lines, the driver floored the accelerator and nearly ran me over. I had to jump out of the way, or I would have been killed. Three of my neighbors were witness.
I called the New Orleans Police Department. Two police officers came to my home and agreed that I was unsafe and stayed with me while I attempted to speak with A-Topp's and Budget Van Lines and find out where the driver had gone. The police officers also spoke on the phone with Melissa Lilly, a supervisor at Budget Van Lines and explained the driver had nearly killed me and that they were going to put a warrant out for his arrest if he did not return to my home immediately.
Eventually, the driver returned to my home. After two hours of conversation and A-Topp's refusing to unload my delivery until I paid more money, I agreed only because I wanted my property off the truck and in my home. But, I dispute the charges.
The woman finally stepped out of the truck when it was time to unload. I asked her whether she worked for A-Topp's, she refused to answer, got back in the truck and sat in the cab for the remainder of the time the driver unloaded my delivery.
Again, according to our contract, there were supposed to have been two movers. Whether the woman was an employee, I do not know. In any event, only the driver unloaded my delivery, carelessly.
The driver was supposed to have presented me, upon delivery, with a copy of the contract, a weight ticket proving the weight of my delivery, an inventory list and a complete breakdown of all charges. The driver did not have the weight ticket or the breakdown of all charges.
I still have no proof that my delivery weighed what A-Topp's claims it weighed. I still have no breakdown of the charges. I dispute all charges.
Rhonda Joy and Melissa Lilly of Budget Van Lines received emails from me requesting this information be retrieved from A-Topp's and sent to me. Though I was promised an email with the weight ticket and the breakdown of all charges, I have yet to receive either. I dispute all charges.
I paid a $199 broker fee and a $316.45 deposit (which was supposed to have been counted toward the total balance) to Budget Van Lines to receive a safe, reliable and efficient move. I dispute these charges of $515.45, Budget Van Lines breached our contract.
I paid $474 to A-Topp's upon pick-up and $606 upon delivery for a total $1,080 to A-Topp's. I dispute these charges.
A-Topp's did not comply with our contract. A-Topp's breached our contract:
it missed the deadline to deliver my property to me by Sept. 1,
it charged me for 441 pounds over the estimated weight and did not provide me with proof in the form of the weight ticket,
it did not provide me with a breakdown of all charges and extraneous charges were made and I still do not know for what or why,
only one mover unloaded the truck, there should have been two,
the driver of the truck nearly ran me over with the truck,
it promised dates and times of delivery and never called and never showed,
its representatives, particularly Eric and Jeff Bell, were volatile every time we spoke, refused to provide me with critical information regarding my property, were inappropriate, and abusive.
I was on the phone with Budget Van Lines during much of the move.
The move was filmed and pictures were taken of the driver and the truck, the mover who sat in the cab of the truck and did nothing, of the driver yelling at me and raising his hands at me.
I paid a total of $1595.45. I am requesting a full refund due to the breach of contract.

A Topps are a terrible company - Use at your own risk
I recently hired Budget Van Lines to move my possessions from MN to NY. Budget contracted the job out to A Topps. Fortunately I have now received all of my stuff and, so far, nothing appears to be lost or badly damaged. However, the whole experience was a nightmare from start to finish. The crew arrived for the pick-up a day early and complained when no one was there to let them in. They then delivered a day late without any notice. Eric told me on the morning of the supposed delivery that they would not be coming until the next day. This was when I had already taken a day off work. He refused to apologize and laughed off my suggestion that some compensation was in order. Eric is possibly the rudest person I have ever dealt with, and his colleague, Sandra, is not much better. When the crew did arrive I was told by the foreman that the recommended tip was 10-20%. This was before they had even begun unloading! Not only is this is a ridiculous amount for a cross-country move, but it's also highly inappropriate to ASK for a tip in any case. He was then surly and uncommunicative throughout the move and only grudgingly helped me assemble the bed (even though furniture assembly was supposed to be included). When I did give them what I felt was a very fair tip, he complained that it wasn't enough. All in all, A Topps are a very unprofessional company with very poor customer service. I would definitely not recommend them.

You get what you pay for
Well, what can i say, live & Learn. The sales person was good with follow-up so i figured why not. They did arrive early, before i was home and before they said they would be there. Make sure you have your own boxes for EVERYTHING. They charge me $20 for a mattress box which was really just a $12.00 box they split open & wrap ardound the mattress so they can slide it. No one told me they were charging me by the roll for packing tape, 18 rolls to be exact. THey will disassemble and reasemble your furniture, but they didnt have tools, They ended up using my leatherman tool, which i cant seem to find now, ummm. I was only moving 1 mile, one mile, and for some reason it took an hour to go across town, at $80 per hour, itis a ten minute drive, max with traffic.
Then on top of the hour for travel which is automatic, they billed me an additional half hour for travelling home. So, add in the hour to drive across town, the half to drive home, the tape and the $100 tool they i can assume they took, saving $15. per hour over the other quotes i got, cost me an additional $270.
Not recomended at all, I was so anxious to finally have them out of my house i didnt notice a few chips on a couple pieces fo rfurniture.

Dishonest and Unprofessional Movers!
I contracted my move from Michigan to Texas through Budget Van Lines and was assigned A-Topps for the carrier.
First, they were suppose to give me 24-48 hrs notice before they came to pick up my stuff. They called me 2 hrs before they arrived to let me know they were on there way. When I mentioned I was concerned about finishing up packing my belongings, they said 'don't worry, we'll help you out'. Ignorantly, I assumed they were being nice and making up for the lack of notice. Later on, although nothing was mentioned of this during the time and no paperwork/bills, I would get a $300 bill for 'packing' our things. This "packing" included putting a few pictures in boxes and putting the couch pillows in big boxes.
When the movers arrived, one guy worked hard, and the other (Dwayne) just fooled around the whole time. As I was finishing up my packing throughout my apartment, I found Dwayne talking on the phone several times. Dwayne was also extremely unprofessional with me. At one point, my cat was crying, (loud noises of taping up the mattress was freaking her out), so I went into my bedroom to move her, and he said 'Yeah, you need to shut your pussy up.' and laughed. I let the comment pass, but I noticed throughout the move, every time my fiance went outside, he would make a 'sly', inappropriate comment to me.
Then, the real fun started... We had agreed on a delivery date of the next Thursday. Eric (dispatch) called me Sunday to let me know they would be able to deliver our stuff on Monday. I told him that was awesome, but unfortunately, my new apartment would not be ready until that Thursday (aka the AGREED delivery date). Eric then told me that it was 'no good' and I needed to 'figure something out'. After trying to work something out with Eric, I gave up and eventually had to involve Budget Van Lines. Finally, after going back and forth a bit, Eric decided that the truck could not sit idle in Texas for 2 days, so they would have to put our stuff in storage and they would be back in "a week or two" to unload it.
However, despite all this, I got a called on Monday morning from the drivers asking if I was ready to take delivery. I told them that NO, I was not there yet, and then they hung up on me. When they finally did delivery our belongings, they had broken a bookshelf and coffee table (items THEY had packed and charged extra for), and some dishes. We are still missing a bin that is full of expensive engineering text books and quite a bit of work clothes. So far, I have been getting the run-around for about a month. I have repeated talked to Jeff now (I think Eric is avoiding me?), and have gotten nowhere. Next step...BBB!!!

BEWARE! LOST, DAMAGED, DON'T CARE
I've made 1200+ mile moves before, but this experience with A-Topps was the worst. The driver and his helper were surly, rude, threatening, inappropriate, lazy. They WILL overcharge you for moving supplies even when you do not authorize those supplies. Your items WILL be damaged.
When the truck finally arrived at our home and these two people started removing our items to the truck, neither my husband or I had any idea all of our belongings were being placed on the parking lot and sidewalk. About 3/4 of the way into the removal of our items, I happened to step outside to see our belongings blocking the public sidewalk and our things strewn all over the yard, sidewalk and parking lot...and none of it was being watched! When I told the driver that we were extremely concerned about all of our items getting into the truck,we were met wtih anger and hostility. We told the movers that an armed robbery had happened two doors down from us the week prior and that yes, this was an area known for thefts. This did nothing to impress them. The move went on very slowly and into the night...so our belongings were left in this public parking lot in the dark. No suprise, we have many things missing. Many of our items are damaged...they tore apart our office desk and jewelry armoire trying to put them back together. We called the company to file our complaint, but the person was rude as well telling us to just get through this move...they have a hard job to do. A-Topps does not have a claims department...they use an independant claim management service that wants to give us a little over $200 for the broken flat screen that the movers packed, a missing playstation, toaster oven, linens and destroyed furniture. It's a rip off! Don't think the DOT will help...they don't have the jurisdiction to help. Oh...T-Topps also over weighed their truck, then collected from us based on that weight. We requested re-weighs with us present and the company ended up paying us back nearly $300 they had extorted from us by their less-than-honest practices.

SCAM- not honest people
I hired World Moving Services who contracted with A Topp's as a carrier for my move. I arranged for my father to be there for the pick up in RI as I had already moved out of state. 90% of my stuff was already packed and as my parents started to wrap the remainder of my belongings, the movers said "don't worry, we can do that". When the movers were done packing my belongings, they left without giving a copy of the paperwork to my father. Working with the sales person on the inventory list, he estimated my weight to be 2002 pounds. I was called after the pick up and told my weight went over 1198 ponds and they were charging $740 packing fees.
Original quote : $1553.17 (for 2002 pounds)
Requested final payment: $3229.00 (claiming weight was over 1198 pounds making total weight 3200 pounds plus "packing charges")
I was not able to get anywhere with customer service. Finally Jeff called to explain my delivery date and we spoke about the additional charges. I requested a re-weigh that I be present for, he agreed. He then agreed that the packing charges were very high considering 90% had been packed and the movers may have put things in boxes that did not have to be, i.e. end tables. He agreed to reduce the packing charges to $350. I had this in writing, was told by World Moving Services that the packing charges were reduced and it was written on my receipt by the driver at delivery. After delivery, I followed to him to weigh station and was correct that my furniture did not go over by 1198 pounds but was actually under estimated weight and was only 1900 pounds. Also I was charged for shrink wrapping things that were never shrink wrapped, matresses, desk chair. There were also many boxes that were full of nothing but broken glass and my washer was packed on top of my office desk and tv making them both wet. At this point Jeff had to reimburse me the additional weight charges of $934.00 and refused to take $350 off for packing even though he verbally agreed and it was in writing. He even said his driver never wrote it on contract even though he did and initialed it. Very deceptive customer service. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!

Nationwide Relocation Service/ATopps Moving
These companies have awful customer service and awful accounting methods. They gave me an initial estimate of 3900 pounds for $1777, requiring an immediate deposit of $719. No problem. A week later another service rep called to go over my list and decided I had 4500 pounds at at cost of $2500 and needed an additional deposit of $595. They gave me a pick up date and an arrival window of 3 hours. They also requested a 26' truck to be sure it would fit down my street or I would have to pay over $200 more for a shuttle truck. After the three hour window was up I called Nationwide who told me there was nothing they could do about the truck being late because they contracted a mover so they were not responsible. They gave me the name of the trucker ATopps and a phone number. I called there and was told the truck was on the road and would be there within the hour. They said nothing of a problem. I asked about compensation for the lateness and they arrogantly told me they do not compensate unless they do not show up. I called an hour later and was told there were traffic problems. If the truck had been sent out when it was already an hour late it still would have been at my house by now. 3 hours later the truck arrived. 3 hours. The driver told me he had received a last minute call on his route home from Chicago to pick up my things. AND they sent a 70' truck which if it hadn't fit would have cost me more money. And I would have been responsible even though a smaller truck was requested. I asked the driver about the size of the truck and his answer was so it fits, what's your problem?. The pick-up was then fast. They would call to tell me the weight and when the delivery would be.
Well weight came in at 3800 lbs. Less than the original which was great and FAR less than the 2nd estimate of 4500lbs. They told me I had a credit due for the second deposit. At this time even though it had been 6 days since the second deposit request, they still had not put the withdrawal through for the second deposit.
I drove to South Carolina. I was called and told my furniture would be delivered 4 to 5 days from pick-up. That was great!. They told me I owed them 1302.25. WHAT? That did not include the second deposit but did include $272 for packing. What packing I asked? I had everything packed. Well the driver put some odds and ends items in wardrobe boxes. Yes he did, but I was not told there was a charge and to me a chair needn't go in a box. Well too bad, the driver did it, asked to sign papers AFTER the truck was loaded, I saw the boxes and signed, so I owed! $272 for 7 wardobe boxes to hold as I said, odds and ends, like a vacuum, a stool etc. Rip-off! BUT they had my furniture I had to eat it.
I checked my bank account to find that Nationwide had now DEDUCTED the $595 second deposit from my acoount even though they told me that those monies were a credit and would wash. So, now I did not have enough money to pay for my delivery. Didn't have $600 extra dollars lying about. AND Nationwide refused to acknowledge negligent bookkeeping. I asked them to call the trucker and inform them of the problem thier bookkeeping created and to simply forward the $595 to the shipper, I would pay the rest and get my delivery. Oh no, they can't do that and I should have had the money ready. I DID have the money until they took $595 to which they were not entitled and they knew it. They told me on Thursday I had a credit and then on Friday, took the monies anyway. So delivery was postoponed for a week! A week!
Well I was given a new delivery date with a 5 hour window delivery time. Take a guess! They didn't show up at all. Nope, they were a full day later than they had scheduled me. Why? The driver told me he had started out at midnight, which would have gotten him in South Carolina with plenty of time to spare, but he had been stopped in Virginia and taken off the road because he was over the legal limit for truckers to drive. I then called the office who told me it was because he had a delivery in Viginia that morning that ran late. I said he had no delivery in Virginia. Oh right the owner. THE OWNER Amos, told me, he meant Washington DC. Another huge lie. There was no delivery scheduled before mine. If there had been, according to the driver's story he would have been delivering furniture in the dark at 4AM. I called Nationwide Relocation, who hired Atopps and they told me the furniture is not considered late unless the company took longer than 14 days.
The furniture arrived the next day and the driver had his girfriend with him. Professional huh? She was very nice, but please.
So hire Nationwide Relocation at your peril. Hire Atopps at your peril. Horrific customer service, no work ethic and the attitude is just awful, ESPECIALLY the trucking company. I was inconvenineced beyond inconvenience, but they all got thier money so too bad for me. You are a hostage from the time you give them a deposit. What can you do the day of moving when they are 5 hours late? NOTHING! What can you do when everything you own is on a truck and they say sign here? Tell them to unload? What can you do when they drive off and you have to wait until they show so that your life can continue? Nothing! All your belongings are essentially being held hostage and they have you.

Terrible moving company
We went online and submitted for moving quotes through a website and recieved close to 30 emails and phone calls. We booked our move through nationwide relocation based out of florida and the moving company that they set us up with was A-Topps Moving based out of New Jersey. Let me keep this brief, they are the worst, rudest and haphazard company I have ever experienced. When they first arrived at our home the driver who spoke very broken english started with, "you know tips are not included but 10-15% is standard" and I was like, do the job and we will discus tips later. They jammed our stuff in the truck like it was junk and did not care for our belongings. We were told to expect delivery within 2 days since the distance was so close. After non-stop calling for 5 days we were finally told by Jeff (the owner of A-topps I guess) that delivery would be something like another week, so 11 days to deliver from NJ-MA is ridiculous and this was basically a disaster move. Broken items, overchar

Can't believe it! READ THIS BEFORE YOU MOVE REGARDLESS
I just moved to a position down south, along with me was among other things brand new; cooking set, knife set, and silver-ware set. I also had a Jade mattress, and numerous DVD's, an 8mm camcorder, and 2 other boxes which vanished. These things are not the items that are keeping me up at night(it is 5 AM and I have been unable to sleep since 3). The things that are keeping me up, are the personal possessions, an 8mm tape of my sisters high school graduation, pictures of my grandfather, family vacation albums among others ALL OF WHICH CAN NOT BE REPLACED!
I beg anyone who must move to take items that you hold so closely to you with you regardless, god forbid you must go through what I am right now. For gods sake mail those items if need be!!
The delivery man was a nice guy and very helpful in the hope that my items were further forward the truck( after they left, but still very helpful and i thank him for it). The items that I did receive were packed with care. The warehouse took about a week to locate my lost items to no avail.
My guess is that someone just saw the label DVD on the side of the one container, and the Pots and Pans were new in box, so that would be easy to spot. After finally saying today that we need to move forward (I have been eating out since 10/12 when I moved down here to begin work, and the lease began on the 1st, I just didn't want to go out and buy new pots and pans), I was given the number of the insurance company and told "good luck" which did not make me the least bit happy. I still have hope, but i know my odds.
I also have someones yellow tool box(lot #J2218 item # 172 READS VAN SERVICE), and a vintage lamp(Same lot number as mine!?!?!SERIOUSLY/WRECKLESS!?!?!?! SS2526 Item # 085) from two other different moves. I have contacted the moving company, and hope that they will pick these items up from me and get them to their owners.
I hope that my experience was a fluke, if that not be the case, it would be border line criminal.
A-Topps was subcontracted through "world moving services," which was the first part of this 20 day migraine. If you see this company, run far far away. As soon as I signed there was an apparent downward progression of the broker caring about me(not A-Topps, World moving services), A-Topps Customer service just took a little longer to get back to me on the subject of attempting to find my items.
I wish that the moving company would realize how difficult it would be for them to survive if i romped through their own house and took 30% of their items at random. It is costly and does not allow someone to feel the home-ness that sentimental items provide. I have been eating my cereal with throw away forks for the last 8 days because i simply cant afford to buy a good set again(did it 2 weeks ago, along with pots and pans and have those bills to pay), and they now expect me to have to purchase a new set of pots and pans, AND THEN ARGUE WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY. PLEASE!
Enough is enough at one point, I will learn this lesson and walk away with much wisdom about what needs to be done in life and who to trust to do it (you bet i will move my own things from now on) I will drive then hire loaders/unloaders.
I payed close to 2000(including an additional 250 for about 6 large boxes which they placed my items in, with packing paper!!) dollars to move 532 miles and lost over 1600 dollars in material items not including anything sentimental. Learn from this.

NEVER USE A-TOPPS!!!!
I am posting reviews on as many sites as I can about A-TOPPS This company charged me double my original quote, overcharged for frivolous packing charges was late to pick me up by one day and it took them 17 days to deliver my goods from NJ to GA on a few hundred miles when they said it should only be within a week. I had many damaged items and when I called I was yelled at and Jeff was very rude. This company is horrible!!!
