Xpress movers is the worst moving company
I chose this company from the ok reviews from yahoo local. I was moving to my new home within a mile from my old apartment. The moving men who came did the worst possible job I could ever imagine. At my new place, they dented my door, stained the walls at various places and even dented the wall in a couple of places. Not just my new home most of my wooden furniture were dragged while moving and this scrapped th finish at the edges. When asked to be careful, the moving guy gave a very rude answer. I called his manager to report about him, to my surprise the manager was supporting his inefficient men. My call got the moving guy pissed off and he denied to more the remaining 1 item left until I pay for an extra 30 minutes. Finally I ended up spending $100 more for a crappy job. Not to mention the way they trashed my old place from where I was moving. I ended up cleaning all the tapes and other moving materials they threw all over my 4 bedroom apartment. I would never recommend this mover to anyone.

Dishonest and poor management
I used xpress movers and they made our move completely miserable. If you want to be completely stressed out for your move and be charged an unreasonable amount of money use Xpress Movers!
The movers were meant to show up at 2pm with 3 guys. They showed up at 6:15pm with 2 guys. The job was to pack and move from New York City to Chicago. Because they were so late and exhausted from the move earlier in the day, I had to physically help the two exhausted movers to lift over 80 boxes and then hire an additional guy to help add new muscle to the team due to the fact that the Xpress guys were so tired. We ended up finishing the packing and loading the truck up at 3:30am.
When they got to Chicago, after we paid $4860 and signed the waiver for full delivery. We realized, after the movers had left that they had forgotten to pack 3 shelves and drawers in the New York apartment kitchen with all our knives, kitchen utensils and china. The movers were nice but the issue was they were so tired and overwork that they did a poor job.
My advice, DO NOT USE THESE XPRESS MOVERS.

No wonder they were the only movers available
These movers get an F for the following reasons:
- late pick-up, extremely late delivery
- LIARS (read more about this below)
- will charge you a 7% transaction fee if you use a credit card...they want CASH
- unprofessional, inexperienced movers
Was in a time crunch and needed movers (New York City to Boston) for the next day. I called Flat Rate, a company I had used with much success before, but unfortunately they were not available until the following week. Called a few other companies with good reviews, but none of them were available. Finally, I found Xpress Movers, and their quote seemed reasonable and reviews on this site were good, so I booked them.
At first, the people I spoke with on the phone were polite and seemed helpful. They gave me an estimate of the packing materials, but when the movers arrived, they told me the actual cost would be more than 3x the estimate I was quoted on the phone.
The movers arrived about half an hour late. There were two guys doing the move - one was clearly experienced, the other stood around like a complete dud. They took forever to move not much furniture out of my studio apartment.
I was told the furniture would be delivered the next morning at around 9:30. The next day, we sat at home waiting for the furniture to arrive, but there were no phone calls, emails from the movers letting us know they would be late. I finally called them at around 2:30, and the dispatcher said she didn't know where the movers were. She said she would check and call me back. I got a phone call about 30 minutes later - they were going to arrive between 6-7pm. When I asked why, she said it was because the movers ran into traffic coming out of New York that morning. INTERESTING, considering we saw our moving guys eating dinner at a service area in Connecticut (halfway to Boston) the night before!!
They didn't arrive until 8:30pm and there were no apologies offered. They said they had been caught in traffic. When I asked if they had come from NYC that day, they looked me in the eye and said 'yes.' And refused to lift a finger until I signed all the paperwork. When I booked the move, I had told the man on the phone I would be using an AmEx card. He failed to tell me that they charge 7% for credit card payments. They held my furniture hostage in the moving truck until the issue was resolved.
They moved the furniture into the new apartment - and the next day, I discovered the damage they had done to the new hardwood floor because they couldn't figure out how to fit my sectional couch together. Apparently, they thought repeatedly banging the couch up and down on the floor would work.
I can't believe people have given this moving company positive reviews. These people are scammers and liars. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not support this business.

THEY ARE SCAMMERS!
BEWARE of this company, they are scammers and liars. They will quote u one price, then continue to raise it and raise it. First we were told we could pay by check, then told that they wanted a money order instead. On the day they arrived they would not accept the money order b/c it was from Bank of America and not the post office. We had to find a check-cashing place on a saturday afternoon which costed us 5% of the amount (an extra $200) to cash. They held our stuff hostage till they got cash. This is after they told us that they were coming on a Friday but didnt call or show till Saturday. We spent ALL of Friday waiting around for nothing! They wanted to add additional charges for having stairs in the home and for wanting more boxes to go upstairs than the downstairs. They continued to add to the price and only wanted CASH. On the day we were moving from our original destination, we were told $3000, then were told that the price would go down if we decided not to take some things so we gave away a lot of our furniture, but at the end of the day we still had to pay that pluse an additional $500. Everytime I called the 1-800 number to speak to a manager, they told me that I happen to be talking to a manager....What manager answers a 1-800 line? I dont know of any,...they tried to cover for eachother. We were told that we would have only professional movers, but instead ended up w/ one mover that worked for the company and other hire-ons for the day that they found randomly in the town. That is scary!

Great Movers
Xpress Movers moved my from NY to IL recently and I decided to write a few lines about the moving experience. The movers were on time, they were prompt and fast. The customer service was very responsive too so I had no problems with the communication with the company. I had my stuff delivered intact, no damages. The price was good.
Xpress Movers did a good job moving my belongings and I recommend their moving service.

Smooth move, great service
I hires Xpress Movers for my state to state moving job from MA to IL after my online research on them. Having all that info I made my choice and decided to go with the quote. The move was performed professionally. The staff was very polite and fast. The sale representative took some time to educate me and explain me the details. Overall the move was fast and at reasonable price. I am satisfied with this company and will use their services again in the future.
